If you were the NIU coach would you recruit Michael Jordan's sons
Yes.

I think it's pretty self-explanatory. The contributions MJ himself would make to NIU would far outweigh anything that any other recruit could bring in. Plus there would be much more fan support than there is now. Also, it could definitely help future recruits come to NIU when they know that one of MJ's sons plays there.
I think the Jordan kids have the old mans will to win gene. Our present team seems to be very soft in addition to a lack of D1 talent.
Amazing.... Last -2- posts and no one said they were good players...... They will fit in.... 05-stirthepot
Interesting that this is being discussed after all the Hovath bashing with his folks donating $.

They are good players. I have seen them play at my son's school and they are very good. Are they the 50 points per game dominating player? No. Would they fit in very well at NIU? Yes.

Since my son is going to a private school, you hear this talk all the time. It is either people living their life with class envy or sour grapes. You just need to see who is saying it to figure out which category they fall into.
Jordan's kids! Wake up guys.

Jeff Jordan is a mid-level D1 player that would NEVER consider NIU, not in the state that it is in. Look for him to get a chance at a nice div 1 school and/or a mid-major like Loyola, UIC or ISU type. Pleeease, he would never even consider us. And yes, Loyola, UIC and ISU are a step up...not to mention SIU and Bradley, which are two.

Marcus, forgetttaboutit. He is a big-time D1 prospect.
Definitely would just don't think we have what it would take to get a Jordan, academically or on the court right now unfortunantely.

Maybe in your world 84, but those schools are no step up academically from NIU. However, basketball wise the gulf is huge
I agree ISU, SIU are not above NIU in academics. Was mainly talking about Loyola but that might not be as good a school as I thought either.

Loyola is not either. I have worked with a lot of their grads, and it is not a pretty picture.

Sometimes I think we forget to look at the body of work of basketball programs and lock onto these 5 year chunks of time like they solely define basketball programs. Looking over a longer range of time, NIU basketball is not behind any state school with the exception of U of I. NIU has one of the best basketball traditions in the state.
Then I was mistaken; good to know. Now if we can just get our basketball team to play as well as SIU we'd have a chance.

are you insane? NIU has made the tourney like twice. Name one decent player that has come out of NIU to go to the NBA? I would say that NIU is the worst state school for basketball. If we take in the private schools like Bradley it even gets worse. maddawg, you are on crack, and need to realize that the NIU basketball team is not very good. I would love to see this team succeed, but it just isn't happening. I find myself wondering, how long until football season?

Do you even have to ask if he is insane? That is a no brainer. YES he is! I think maybe the crack is causing his insanity.
I see Jeff going MVC. Odds are Jeff will get some looks at major conferences and maybe an offer or two due the name, but in the MVC he would have a shot at minutes and its not an ego bruser for MJ (unlike the Ohio valley/MAC/Horizon).

I would not rule out Ivy league if he's got solid grades (above 3.0 and decent SAT). His name alone will get him in to half the schools.
Have we been to the NCAA or NIT tourney the past 5 years? No..

Instead of naming off all the instate programs that have better programs than us, I'll just name the one's that don't:

Chicago State
EIU
WIU
