Plain and simple, this man needs to go. How I would love to see an offense that is daring as TCU's, Toledo's, and Northwestern's (with Basanez). Don't have he horses? Let's start recruiting to give us that offense.

We are no longer a secret to MAC and other teams. Go after the back and the QB in the pocket. We need an offense built equally around the pass and run, with a mobile QB who is quick-thinking and can take the 3-step drop. Maybe Dan will be that QB. Maybe eventually Billy will. All I know is that we need to shake things up on O.

Football is like any other game. You need to keep the opposition scratching its head and staying back on its heels, not knowing what the hell to expect. When you only need two options - gunning for the RB or going after the slow-thinking QB in the pocket - it's not all that hard to prepare. Without Wolfe in the backfield, that job could be made a lot easier next year.
It's funny how last year we wanted Denny's head on a platter and now were screaming for Bond's.

There is no doubt we have the horses and QB to do it.

Billy Lowe
DeMarcus Grady
Paul Blalock
Chandler Harnish
Boone Thorgesen

All of those guys are more then capable of runnning that type of offense next year.

Then you look at the WR's.
Britt Davis
Marcus Perez
Matt Simon
Marcus Lewis
Evans Adonis
Landon Cox
Nathan Palmer

Not sure if we have enough there to go 4 WR's often, but I think it's possible.

The question would be, considering this could be Joe's last year, would he be willing to go over that drastic of an overhaul of the offense? You are going from horse and buggy to flying cars in one offseason. There would be many bumps in the road early on.

All I know is I hate it when we go up against those offenses like Northwestern. There are so many things to defend on any given play. I would love to see us do it.

you forgot the best reciever on the team, Greg Turner... I dunno why you all over look him. He really is the best on the team I don't understand why he gets like no playing time.
today's Sun Times correctly pointed the finger of blame at the offensive coordinator

Just a couple of years late with this post, this is something to spout off at the time of the hire. Anyone can post that junk after that fact. I agree there should be questions asked about him, but to say it was a bad hire is an after the fact thing which does not hold water.

Do you have the numbers for 2004/ 05 / 06 ? Has our offence been successful the last three years? How have we done scoring points? Has our offense been way behind our defense?

With that information you will have the answer your question>

I understand that its a couple of years late, however, my point is simply this. As a Division Manager I hire people to work for our company. I look at their resume, past achievements, personality, and check references. When Joe hired Bond I wonder how much scruitiny there was? His list of achievements are dismal at best...imo

Still you are years late with these thoughts, you aren't credible when you say it after the fact

How does it affect his credibility because he raises the issue now? Did the facts change since then? No. So, no one can comment on anything unless they did it IMMEDIATELY after a decision is made? I didn't see this in the board rules - please show me where it says that. I think it is your credibility that looks poor because you are questioning him when all he is doing is making a legitimate point.

It is two different issues, I dont argue that he needs to be questioned now and a change may need to be made here. What I did take issue with is criticizing NIU for hiring him when noone said at the time it was a bad hire.

Even funnier is the number of people last year that were calling for him to be our next head coach. Now, everyone wants his head on a platter.

You are obviously entitled to your opinion, but I disagree. It is one thing if we were part of the administration who had approval authority, but how many people even on this board - let alone the average fan - even knew when they hired Bond? I know that I didn't - but when the offense sputters you start to look into these type of things. I think it is a legitimate criticism to now ask what the decision makers were thinking.
You know what else is funny? I was ripped by everyone when I said the play calling cost us the game against Iowa State in Ames last year. All because everyone wanted to pile on a QB making his 3rd career start.

That was a couple years ago Dyno. However, I get your point.

Actually it WAS a couple years ago! The game in Ames was played in 2004.

And that's hardly a newsflash about the playcalling in that game. Anyone who watched it knows we got too reckless with playcalling when a had a 28-20 lead. We had all the momentum at that point, but the playcalling and an ISU punt block let the Cyclones back into the game.

In fact, I do believe we had a 34-20 lead before Horva....err, uh, the wheels came off. 03-melodramatic
