Matt Hayes in The Sporting News had a photo/article that Wolfe is now apparently healthy after having some bad hammy problems during mid-season.

Horny Frogs beware, Wolfe will be on the loose tonight in SD. 02-13-banana

How healthy are the rest of the injured Huskies?

Nordin last year 2nd team All-MAC will be back, but limited, remember his last game was when Wolfe went crazy at Ball State.
Horvath won't be playing, which most of us would rather have Nicholson in there anyways.
Adriel Hansboro one of our CBs is out, his brother our other CB I think is playing but is banged up.
Alex Krutsch one of our DT is out for the season.
Montell Clanton, Wolfes backup and next years starting RB is out for the season as well.
I might be forgetting someone but those are the main guys.

Our secondary is a bit banged up and hopefully Nordin can contribute cause he is one heck of a player, great blocker. Wolfe being healthy is key though.
I thought I remember reading that Alex Krutsch could play. One of the threads on the NIU board said that. It's a big loss losing Adriel, he's been playing well lately.
Am I right that he played most of the season hurt? :shhh:

Yeah, I think you are right Krutsch is back, the Seconday scares me a bit but hopefully our DL steps up.

Wolfe got hurt in the WMU game and is finally full strength, he didn't want to mention the injury as an excuse, its part of the game.
Apparently Wolfe couldn't even touch his toes because of his hammy.

There is a difference between playing at say 80% and 50%.

Don't let the Frogs know they are in for some fun chasing the Wolfe tonight :shhh:
ugly....
I have to say, BYU's big win over Oregon takes a little sting out of the NIU score. Oregon is currently losing by almost the exact same score as NIU-TCU. So much for the BCS!

Yep, quite a start for the MWC to say the least. I believe Oregon was only getting 3 or 4 pts.
There is a lot of good FB being played outside the BCS conferences out west.

Boise State (WAC) and BYU and TCU (MWC).
Let's start the tote board............

Non-BCS teams vs. BCS teams bowl games

1-0 good guys 04-rock

And wow, how about the Mountain West so far? How good is that conference? 04-jawdrop

The MWC has always been on par w/ BCS conferences. They may not be the top conference, but they can compete w/ the ACC and Big East, sometimes others.

If a playoff comes to major college football, the MWC will be included. Don't be too surprised to see a scenario where there are 8 conferences of 10 teams...each champ getting an automatic berth. That's 80 teams. Conferences will look alot like they did in the mid-80s.

So, you have the current BCS, that's 66 teams. You add the MWC, that's 9, giving 75 teams. A handful of extras will be picked from the rest: Boise St, Fresno St, Houston, Army, Navy, Hawaii...

And everyone else gets to play in Appalachain St version of the tournament.

BYU recruits better than most BCS programs. BYU gets nothing but 3 and 4-star commits. Then, factor in that many of these kids have completed their two year mission and most of them are 20 or 21 years old as freshmen. By their senior year they are 24 or 25 years old. Their body development and growth have peaked out by then, whereas your typical 22-year old senior can still be growing.
BYU does recruit well, but it is a bit of a stretch to say that they only get 3 and 4 star players. In their 2007 class according to Rivals they have 24 commits with 10, 3 star players and 14, 2 star players.

I think a couple of those 3 star players are 4 star players in the scout database.

Ten 3-star players is pretty impressive for a non-BCS team. I'm sure that trumps all other non-BCS teams. You also have to factor in that five of their 2-star players are on the verge of being ranked 3-star players according to Rivals. A 5.5 rating is a 3-star player. BYU has five players listed with a 5.4 rating. So even their 2-star players are high-end 2-star recruits on the verge of being 3-star.
No doubt that BYUs recruiting is still impressive, but I was just pointing out that they do not only get three and four star players. Those guys who are 5.4 would probably be 5.5 if they commited to a BCS school.

I've lived in MWC country for decades and disagree. I watched the demise of the SWC and the old WAC and the formation of the MWC and the re-formulating of the new WAC. There have been some years where for one or two MWC teams your statement is true. With the addition of TCU and the re-emergence of BYU as a powerhouse, the league is stronger. While their top teams usually can compete evenly with some BCS programs, the entire league isn't yet able to compete on even footing with most BCS conferences. Of course, there are exceptions like Utah under Meyer (briefly). I'll agree, they are the top non-BCS league, top to bottom.

Unlike the MAC which is made up of state schools, the MWC is an odd mix. What many forget is that the MWC is made up of a number of teams that are the flagship public Universities in their state like Utah, New Mexico, Wyoming, some private or exclusive schools like BYU, TCU and the Air Force Academy and some state schools like San Diego St., UNLV and Colorado State that are perceived as little brothers to schools in their state like USC, UCLA, Nevada and CU. I haven't done the research, but I'm willing to bet that the MWC teams have considerably larger football budgets than MAC schools.

I root for the MWC unless they are playing a MAC opponent. I wish we played them more often. Just like the MAC, I love to see them knock off BCS opponents.
As a MWC fan, I am hoping that Colorado State can get their stuff back together or that SDSU can emerge as a 4th really solid MWC team. TCU, BYU, and Utah are clearly a step ahead of the rest of the conference at this point.

The MWC has some pretty good history in several sports with TCU and BYU having football national titles and heisman trophy winners. Plus Utah, Wyoming, and UNLV all have basketball national titles. Not sure if UNM has a basketball title, but the obviously have a great basketball reputation.

Just a few years ago, Utah had the #1 pick in both the NBA (Bogut) and NFL (Smith) drafts. I am not sure how many schools BCS or non BCS can make that claim.
Yeah, the demise of Colorado State the past few years has been rather dramatic. Sonny Lubick seems to have lost some of his magic. They had quite a run there for a few years when they took control of the league from BYU. They've had a run of key injuries the past few years that they have not been able to overcome. Depth is a problem there and it seems that they have not had as good of recruiting classes as in Lubick's earlier days.

SDSU and CSU are probably the two best candidates to be the solid 3rd and 4th teams in the league. Utah also has that potential, as they and BYU have the most "big time" game atmospheres with big stadiums and crowds.
