I believe one of posters indicated that the first 6.0M is divided evenly among the 5 non-automatic qualifying conferences.

As I understand it:

1.2M to each conference including the MAC, but

the remaining 3.3M + the supplemental 9.3M are divided in a 5/4/3/2/1 share allocation.

I believe the MAC will get 1.2M + 2/15s of (3.3+9.3).

I assume this is correct.

Regardless, my numbers and "Airports" are close for the BCS payout.
Boise State fattens take for second tier

While the six conferences with guaranteed spots in the Bowl Championship Series each receive at least $17 million, the five other I-A leagues will receive a total of approximately $18 million. That's double what they would normally make because of Western Athletic Conference champ Boise State's spot in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.

The non-guaranteed leagues (Conference USA, WAC, Mountain West, Sun Belt, Mid-American) receive 9% of the projected BCS net revenue, or about $9 million on an annual basis, according to the BCS. That increases by another 9% when a team from one of those leagues is in a BCS game.

The leagues then negotiate a split, with the biggest share going to the participating conference. Of the WAC's money, more than half will go to Boise State. Athletics director Gene Bleymaier projects that at $3 million to $3.5 million.

I don't know about that, I'm only reporting gross dollars from post season opportunities.

One thing I can conclude with Boise Bowl paying 200k, Birmingham Bowl paying 300k, and N.O Bowl paying 325k.......the MAC would be better off trying to score at-large bids to bowls that pay over 750k than full time agreements with low payouts.

The ACC is trying to get out of Boise as fast as they can to establish a new bowl down in Georgia.

I think everyone in the conference should be able to make money from their bowl games this season besides NIU. Central Michigan is only like 1 hr from Detroit. Western Michigan is maybe 3 hrs from Toronto. Ohio is 13 hrs from Mobile. NIU is 29 hrs from San Diego.

CMU's AD said they need to sell 9K tixs to the MCB to cover their expenses.

Like will 9K go to Mobile, San Diego or Toronto? :shhh: I don't think so...

I can see 3 schools losing $ on bowls (please will the MAC bail them out).

On a bowl game 3 hrs away? That doesn't make sense unless WMU fans aren't buying up tickets and the university has to eat the ticket costs.

If CMU can't bring at least 20k to Ford Field for their bowl game then that would be a joke.
The deal is CMU must sell 9K tickets from their own Box Office.

Tickets bought by Metro Detroit CMU fans (and there are a lot of them) at Ford Field doesn't count.

We'll bring lots of people to the Motor City Bowl, we had a pretty decent showing at the MAC Conference Championship game.

However, how many of the Metro Detroit CMU alums will be buying their MCB tickets from CMU's box office...? Probably most of the tickets sold at the CMU box office will be Mt. Pleasant area sales.
03-idea
Hey, with the pickup in cash, can the MAC office shoot some higher-end commercials? The ones they usually show during a game (conference commercials, not the school ads) look like high school productions.
At the rate ticket sales are going, I doubt CMU loses a dime.

Central could has as many fans at MCB as the other 3 teams combined in Toronto, Mobile and SD.
As for the WMU AD saying they would lose money, she said in an article which I can't locate right now that all MAC schools send $120K per year to the MAC because we are all SUBSIDIZING the bowl games we play in. Not sure if she meant all of them or just the MCB and International.

This is probably because we won't bring 30,000 fans like some of the BCS schools might. So, basically, tix to the game that are bought through WMU are their only source of income and travel costs, meals, hotels for the team, staff, etc. will run at least $300,000.

2 1/2. Trust me. And that's in good traffic.
