Interesting developments in the SBC:

UL-L lost and finishes 6-6.

Troy is losing to FIU 7-6 and with a loss would finish 6-6 like UL-L, thus sending MTSU to the New Orleans Bowl if this holds up. Not only that, MTSU would be the only SBC team to finish with a winning record.

Then MCB would be free to choose any other 6-6 team.

Edit: Troy just took a 13-7 lead into halftime.
The four I see available are Pittsburgh, Kansas, Oklahoma St......and Alabama.
Troy is up 13-7 at halftime.

I'm just glad Louisana Lafeytte lost because had the lost and so did Troy then the Cajuns would be in the MCB with MTSU heading to the New Orleans bowl.

One bullet dodged, thankfully.

If the SBC only has one 7 game winner its going to lend more credence against having them pick up a second bowl bid.
based on what i saw in Ford Field the other night, i will predict that it doesn't really matter who CMU plays. The chippewas will kill them!

I agree.

Looks like MTSU will be there. Troy now leads FIU 23-7.

no way can MTSU hang with CMU. mark this one down for the MAC.
fyi, Alabama will go to an SEC bowl.

They are the 9th SEC team and the SEC only has 8 bowl bids. But it's virtually guaranteed the SEC will get 2 BCS bids, so Bama will go bowling.

You had very bad info there. The deal had already been cut, if ULL had won and FIU lost, ULL would have made the two hour drive to New Orleans and MTSU still would have been in the MCB. There was never a chance ULL was going to Detroit.

Maybe but its not like the MAC has exactly been dominate in meetings between the two leagues the last three or four years.

If that's true the MCB should have extended the invitation and made the announcement asap. Maybe they did, but if this went down last week, I think it would have been better pr for the bowl and the teams involved than happening on the weekend.

that's true, but if you saw the CMU team that i and my fellow Bobcat fans saw the other night, i think you'd agree with my original post. scary good.

I think the MCB was hoping both ULL and Troy would lose so they could invite a 6-6 BCS school. They had to wait until both of those teams played Saturday evening to see if they would be bowl eligibile.
