I see some posts here about Middle Tennessee State getting the MCB bid - that's not what my source states. If you recall, I had correctly stated CMU, WMU and Ohio to their respected bowls over two weeks ago. NIU was a long shot at that point in time but thank goodness for the Huskies everything fell into place.

What has been stated to me is that the following teams have been targeted by the MCB - hopefully one of these will accept an invitaion.
Tier 1 = Kansas or Oklahoma State are the two top choices
Tier 2 = Kentucky, South Carolina, Arizona or San Jose State
Correct me if I'm wrong, but...

If Troy beats FIU...which they should since FIU sucks, Troy wins the Sun Belt and MTSU has to be invited at 7-5 before any 6-6 teams.

That was my understanding as well. MTSU may not be the preferred choice of the MCB, but the MCB may have no choice in the matter.
Do we (CMU) have the choice of turning the MCB down? In this instance, I would turn it down.

You should not turn this down. You will never get another chance (at a bowl that is). ;-)

Unless both ULaLa and Troy lose, the Sun Belt will be the only league with teams left that have a winning record.

Me thinks your source is Michael Richards. 04-jawdrop

Well, let's see here. San Jose State has already accepted an invitation to the New Mexico Bowl and the other 4 have no chance of being invited because no 6 win teams will get at large bids (KU and OSU) and the SEC will not have any extra teams.

Vandelay, where the heck did you come up with this garbage? 01-wingedeagle
Vandelay,

If Troy or UL-Lafayette win on Saturday, a Sun Belt team (either MTSU or Lafayette) will play in the MCB.

For a person that has a dedicated website to the MAC, you don't seem to be able to comprehend the new bowl math. Any bowl with an open slot must fill with an available 7-5 team before it can choose a 6-6 team. If a 7 win team is available from the Sun Belt, they will trump any BCS school with only six wins infilling the Motor City Bowl's existing vacancy.

If you had understood this earlier, you wouldn't have been surprised that a 7 win NIU received an at-large bid to the Poinsettia Bowl over several 6 win BCS schools.

This is the third or fourth post Vandelay has made in the past few days where he makes statements about teams that can NOT be selected over 7-5 teams. How does he not get it?!
the only thing i can think is that another bowl is in the same boat as the MCB and ends up with the extra belt or a bowl, say the Independance in Shreveport, La., would make a deal to take La. Lafayette and give us Kansas.

Guys, get over it. It's Middle Tennessee. You may not like it. The Director of the Motor City Bowl may not like it. Some MT fans that wanted a trip New Orleans may not like it. But everything I'm hearing is that it's the Motor City Bowl for MT.

I'd rather be in Detroit with a crowd of 50k.....then sitting in New Orleans with 5 people in the stands.
If both Troy & La-Laff lose, then you have shot at Kansas or Pitt. Maybe take Ariz & trade to Insight for Minn. Take WashSt & trade for Mia[Fla].

Which way is the French Quarter? lmfao lmfao lmfao
Both Kentucky and South Carolina are 7-5, so why can't they be in it???

They will fill the SEC bowl slots and won't be available as at-large teams.

From CBS SportsLine.com

The Sun Belt is on the verge of ending up with two bowl teams, thanks to the Big Ten. Assuming Troy beats Florida International (0-11) this weekend, the Trojans will claim the conference title and the automatic berth to the New Orleans Bowl. Conference runner-up Middle Tennessee State sits at 7-5 and will receive an at-large bid to the Motor City Bowl. The Motor City can't fill its Big Ten requirement because there aren't enough eligible teams, so it will be forced to take a 7-5 team over a 6-6 one, leaving Kansas, Arizona and Washington State on the outside looking in.

AS it should be......

I expect MTSU in the MCB, but could it be that the SEC has a 6-6 team and they found a loophole to send their 6-6 team to one of their tie-ins and the 7-5 Kentucky or South Carolina team gets an at-large bid to the MCB?

Just an honest question, so don't jump me about it.
