does anyone know how much the MAC (and C-USA, SBC, MWC, etc.) will get as conferences covered under the BCS alliance but without participating in any of the BCS bowl games?

Did I hear something to the effect that it is a percentage of the total BCS monies?

E.g., Big Ten could get one full share (15M), a second share (forgot what that's worth - not 15M, though).

WAC would get 15M (Boise State).

ND would get something like 10M (they get less because they aren't in a conference).

Then conferences without a BCS bid would get monies for being part of the BCS alliance.

If the MAC gets a 1M or 2M that would help pay some bills. I assume the MAC can bankroll those bucks to help guarantee tix sales as the bowl games (say guarantees of tix sales to the International Bowl and even the Poinsettia Bowl).
$1,050,000 which wouldn't be much if distributed to the member MAC schools.

I believe it is supposed to go up for this FB bowl season ('06/'07).
There are two pools of BCS money for the non-AQ leagues (ie. MAC, WAC, MWC, CUSA, Belt).

The first pool is 9% of the BCS take (about $10 million). That pool is split two ways. About 60% is divided equally to each league (about $1.2 million per conference). The remainder (roughly $4 million) is split by ranking each conference 1-5 by using the averages of the six computer polls used by the BCS ranking system. That pool is broken into 15 shares. The top ranked league takes 5 shares, #2 gets 4 shares, #3 takes 3 shares, #4 takes 2 shares, and #5 takes 1 share. That is in the neighborhood of $200,000 to $300,000 per share.

The second pool is only triggered if a non-AQ school makes one of the five BCS bowls. That pool is also about $10 million and is divided into 15 shares distributed as above based on the rankings of the conferences.
Assuming (99% certainity) Boise makes it:

There is a Pool 1 composed of 2 sub-pools .AND. there is now a 2nd pool (triggered by Boise's success).

The total value of both Pool 1 and 2 is approximately 20M.

The WAC (Boise) gets their share 15M as well (I assume).

So Boise earned 15M for themselves or the WAC or however it is split .AND. earned an additional 10M for the other non-Automatic Qualifying conferences.

That comes out to 25M that Boise earned for themselves and other non-AQ conferences..

Sweet.
If I have this correct:

6M to the 5 non-AQ conferences to be split equally ($6M / 5 = 1.2M).

The 4M + 10M divided into 15 shares and allocated according to formula ArkSt fan indicated.

Each share would be worth almost $1M and I assume the MAC would get 2 shares (i.e., more then SBC but less then C-USA, WAC, and MWC).

MAC wouse get $1.2M + 2M for a total of almost 3.2M. 02-13-banana

Last year the MAC and others such as C-USA got 1,050.000.

Simple math says this year produced a 2M windfall for the MAC and a lot more for MWC (who get more then the MAC's two shares), etc.
