The west won all four interdivisional games this weekend to close out at 12-6 vs. the east. This is the fourth year in a row that the west has had a substantial win margin against the east but within the MACC the east has a commanding 7-2 lead with Toledo having both west wins. Take away Marshall's 5-1 MACC record and the east still leads 2-1. That is an early good omen for Ohio.
MAC Bowl Bids:
Central in Detroit
Ohio in Mobile
Western in Toronto
NIU is on the clock but only has a very slim shot at San Diego, sorry Huskies
Nick,
Sources have said that Kent was virtually guaranteed a bowl game if they won at BSU. How true is this or was it just something a reporter was speculating?
An interesting tidbit from today's
Record-Courier out of Kent:
Quote:A win would have improved the Flashes record to 7-5, securing just the third winning season for the program since 1972.
According to several KSU officials, a win would also have landed the Flashes a spot in a bowl game. The Mid-American Conference had "guaranteed" it, and a berth in Toronto's International Bowl or San Diego's Poinsettia Bowl seemed to be the most likely destinations.
NIU fans: discuss!
A couple more interesting facts:
*CMU has not lost a MAC East team -- or any team from the State of Ohio -- since 2004.
*All-time, Ohio has won just four games against CMU.

Getting shutout by the MAC's worst defense certainly didn't help. What would a bowl game want anything to do with a team that had 8,000 in attendance at its last home game and got demolished by a bad Buffalo team?

Exactly why I am looking for some clarification?
Central Michigan last title was 1994
Ohio last title was 1968
Both teams have 5 MAC conference titles.
Flash;
Kent had no shot at a bowl game even if they had won at Ball St - NIU is the only MAC team with any possibilty (and that possibility is very small) for a 4th MAC bowl bid this year.

Wouldn't you just take away Marshal's wins from the W side? Toledo still has two West wins so the record would be 2-2 unless I am totally confused which is quite likely.

Have you talked to the bowl reps this evening about MAC 4th bowl chances?
The Big XII had both Oklahoma & Kansas lose so they aren't getting bowl bids at large bowl bids.
Boise St is up 38-7 against Nevada......they are on their way to the BCS while Hawaii, Nevada, and San Jose are stuck playing in WAC bowls.
Northern Ill. is the only 1-A team with 7 wins that is available for an at-large.

One of Toledo's wins was against Marshall and Nick is voiding that when calculating 2-1.

That's what I assumed. I have no idea what these guys were talking about. Thanks for the clarification Nick!
Going back to the subject of the thread, what is even more disturbing for the MAC East is half of their wins against the MAC West came from OU.
MAC West 12 wins vs. MAC East 6 wins.
Ohio 3 wins vs. MAC West
MAC East without Ohio, 3-12 vs. MAC West

I get it now-thanks.
Ball State was 3-0 against the MAC East.
