Wow.........Kent State gonna be playing a Butler team on short rest. Other than that......Butler is gonna be a handfull. Butler leading Gonzaga 57-43 in second half in preseason NIT. Butler is #1 in rpi right now and their rpi is no fluke.....Chance for Kent State to boost the rpi numbers. Butler is good.
Our chance rests on how tired the Bulldogs might be after a flight back and four games in four days. But the BUlldogs are tough.

Butler proves my point that the Horizon League is the next mid major conference to note where the glory rests. They aren't even supposed to be the best team in the Horizon.

The MAC is pathetic. 01-wingedeagle
looks like Buter's going to be the first mid-major to win the Pre-Season NIT since OHIO won it in 1994! i'm thinking Butler's AD didn't really expect his team to win this tournament since he scheduled the game with Kent State for tomorrow!

couldn't blame BU for being a bit flat tomorrow. we'll see if KSU can capitalize on that.
That would be an excellent win for the MAC.

So far, the Missouri Valley and Horizon are proving they are still the real deal. If the MAC could just enter the conversation a bit, it would be nice.
Flashes up by 5 at half. Both teams playing like they want to lose.
Let's see who can pull this out...you know my vote.
I don't care if BU is tired. It's kind of like they're playing in a conference tourney, a very huge conference. This would be a huge win for conference bragging rights and our RPI of course.
Funny column in SI this week by Steve Rushin (and I'm no fan of his usually) about the trend of athletes pleading fatigue.
The best line was Colin Montgomery withdrawing from the French Open due to fatigue. Usually 4 straight days of golf or a trip to Paris would be a cure for fatigue, but they must not work in combination. ;-)
Flashes by 2 with about 6:00 left.
Flashes by 1 (53-52 )with 2:00 left. This one goes to the last possession, me thinks.
Overtime.
Flashes had 7 sec. to score and didn't get a good shot.
Double OT 67-67 03-melodramatic
Butler pulls it out in the second OT.
i'm really impressed with Butler! they go to NYC and win that tournament and then turn around 24 hours later and go into double OT and beat Kent State! wow!
I am impressed, too. Graves is the real deal.

I'm proud of the Flashes. These games will help us down the stretch.

Obviously Butler never imagined they would make it all the way to the NIT finals. How else can you explain them scheduling Kent for the day after the championship. Kudos to Butler for surviving double OT against a very good Kent team.
Graves was unreal; we take a 3 pt lead at the end of OT #1 and he comes flying down and hits a 3 on the run to send it to the 2nd OT. Big time play, big time player. He carried them to the end. 04-bow
Wow. Great game. I thought Kent State had the perfect setup and I was right. Good sign for Kent State to go toe to toe with the hot team of the month. Unreal month for Butler. Hope NCAA with give them a bid come March........1994-1995 Ohio team was 23-8 12-6 MAC and got snubbed on selection Sunday, so Don't get too comfortable Butler.

If Butler finishes the way that Ohio team did, they're not getting into the Big Dance either.
Won't disagree that this was a nice week for Butler, but it's a long season and they're from a mid-mid major conference. We in the MAC are very aware that anything can happen and unless you win your conference tournament, nothing's a given.

yeah they've played all of their hard teams already. butler's RPI can only go down from here even if they keep winning. people tend to have short memories when it comes to games in november.
