Miami scores!.......but in predictable fashion fumbles the extra point.

Miami 9
BGSU 7
How about last night, when TONY PAKO'S was mentioned. Bet they thought it would be great advertising, showing their food. Then John Saunders said, "That's a heart-attack on a plate". Ouch!!

Someone must have taken note (maybe a potential lawsuit?), because near game's end they showed the food again, with Spielman and James both saying they couldn't wait to go there and grab some dogs.

Which brings me to a question, since I've never been to Tony Pako's. Are the Coney Islands similar to the amazingly delicious "Flint-style" (which consists of meats you don't want to know about), the more generic chili (sans beans), the Cincinnati-style sauce they put on spaghetti, or something else?
BG catches a big break on a 4th down passing play with a penalty caused by Miami....

Under 3 minutes to go and BG driving....

Miami 9
BG 7
1:37 remaining........

BG with the ball first and goal, down by only 2...

sh$t bowl rocks on.

Miami 9
BG 7
BUGS whiffs on a 28yd FG. Miami up 9-7 with 30 seconds left. Congrats, RedSkinnyHawks!
Bowling Green is officially out of contention for the MAC East and a bowl..

R.I.P Falcon Football
Nice win RedHawks!!!
Okay, and you think Miami fans are arrogant. Look at Ohio fans. They have a winning season, and you'd think they were God's gift to Earth. To bad for them they are still Ohio, and Miami's perennial b!tch. ;-)

Good game BG. That's pay back for the safety bowl last year. Miami is DEARLY deserving of a win. I love how they were chatting up Miami, and then they talk to BB and you guys go ballistic. To be frank, that was GOOD for Miami. He said that Miami takes credit for OSU and UM success. 05-stirthepot

Truth, or no?
Yeah, how 'bout that phantom offsides on Miami late in the game......the replay only seemed to indicate that a Falcon was in the neutral zone when the ball was snapped.

Right until the end it sure looked like Miami was going to find a way to lose a game again even though we dominated the second half (as much as a game could be dominated in that slop).

Time to put an end to all these horrible November weeknight games...and also, time for BG to forget sodding the field and put in Fieldturf!

Ok, first, it's PACKO'S. They're not Coney Islands, they're Hungarian hot dogs....VERY authentic, as the original restaurant is in the historic Hungarian neighborhood of town. The chili is no beans, a little spicey, greasy, and pretty darn good. The announcer wasn't all wrong...those things are a heart attack waiting to happen, but damn, they're good.
Midweek night games in November don't work no matter what surface you play on. This would have been a sloppy game on fieldturf with the rain and wind.

The MAC needs to get on another network and ditch these midweek night games in November it does little to promote the quality of the product.

Versus would be a good alternative as they have lots of programming time and no college or pro football to broadcast. If the MAC is going to do nite games in Nov, they need to be Sat or Sun only.
Anybody know what the att. was? Yahoo box score shows 25,616 .... but there is no way IN HELL there was that many people there.

We may never know the "actual" attednance. The attendance thing has been a big issue at BG, especially for this game. There is three different numbers that you can see for attendance. "Paid" or "Actual" is what can be reported to the NCAA for the 15,000 avg requirement. What you see in the box score is a third version which seems to be some combination of paid and actual.

The "paid" attendance is what BG decided to use to report to the NCAA. And, yes, the paid attendance was high enough for BG to meet the 15,000 average mark.

From the BG website:
"Thanks to the generous support of Falcon fans across the country and the relentless effort of our student body, the BGSU athletic department had sold 22,774 tickets as of this afternoon for tonight's game with Miami. That figure ensures that BGSU will exceed the NCAA requirement of averaging 15,000 fans per game for its five recognized home dates this season.

"We appreciate the response we received from Falcons everywhere" said BGSU Assistant V.P./Director of Athletics Greg Christopher. "Everyone recognized how important this issue was and we are grateful for their generosity."

The final audited paid attendance, which will add student attendance from tonight's game, will take a day or two to confirm and final figures will be submitted to the NCAA in February."

The Toledo Blade reported this morning that the student attendance at the game was 2,946.

Well, shows what you know. If it's posted on the Internet, then it has to be the truth ;-)

Good game from Miami, decent game but some bad play calling from the Falcons coaching staff.

I hope they keep the grass (if for no other reason than to listen to other posters ***** and moan about the playing surface).

OU fans - enjoy this year, but remember - Payback is a *****. The smack is one thing, the ignorant arrogant comments are another. I'm looking forward to watching you guys bite the big one later this season (and remember, you lost to the team that lost to Temple - we'll remind your remaining opponents of your prowess).

Long live Gregg Brandon for he is our king!
Go BG - beat the TU Rockettes!
Pulltown Falcon: What grass? ;-)
the missed field goal at the end of the game was just debated on Around The Horn. The host said if you like football in the mud or in the snow.

Michael Smith said he wanted the snow
Woody Paige said he wanted mud, he said mud is for warriors....he won the game, just like Miami.

No its not thanks to the BG alumni. Its thanks to Sky Bank who bought 10,000 tickets and gave them away if you even came with in a mile of a sky bank you got a ticket. What a joke. 3,000 students?? Yeah right. lmfao lmfao lmfao

Well....there was grass out there back in September (and maybe in October). Lots of it down in Athens (but that's a whole thread in itself).
