He went to the locker room early and hasn't played yet in the 2nd half. They're saying he's "available if needed." I'd say he's needed (down 10-17)...
He is back in in the second half but I think he is hurting.
What happened to him?

Also, it'll be interesting to see NIU commentary on the QB situation after this game. Nicholson isn't exactly making anyone forget about Horvath...

Not sure. Maybe shoulder again? It doesn't look leg related. Yeah, both our QB's suck. Hopefully Billy Lowe can lead us next year.
I can't imagine him having much of an injury, if any, if they used him on the goal line in the next-to-last play. NIU is a real mystery this season. They were supposed to have an outstanding OL, but have shown nothing since early in the season.
The guy has to be hurt. You don't go from 180-200yd per game to 54 yds.
Something is definitely wrong.
ESPN showed him getting up and putting all the weight on his left side (I think) and not his using his right arm/shoulder at all.
Man has he dropped off, only 190 yards and 1 TD combined in the last 4 games. Last night he had 54 yards on 16 carries with one of them being a 28 yarder. So outside of the 1 long gain he was held in check to 26 yards on 15 carries.
He's got to be hurt the last few games. I don't think it's a leg injury or anything, but he just doesn't seem to have that same speed and I think it is because of a shoulder or something and he is actually being a little tentative at times (only at times), and that is slowing him down some. His O-Line is not giving him any holes to run through either.
Just speculation but I wonder if he has a stress fracture. There was an article a while ago that said he had a stress fracture but we figured it was just an error because it was actually Free that has a stress fracture. Maybe they both do? But Novak said he wasn't aware of any injury to Wolfe. He does look tentative and not the same runner as at the beginning of the year. Our blocking has been atrocious too. I know our TE that we lost for the year was a good blocker and receiver but he couldn't have made that much of a difference.
Paper this morning mentioned hamstring problems.
Both of NIU"s QB's are a dissapointment this year, WR's can't catch either. As has been mentioned Billy Lowe will be activated next year and could likely be the starter.
Given his susceptibility in the past to injury, he may be fighting through it to post a good perception to NFL scouts -- over the past few weeks.

Too bad. It would have been enjoyable seeing him eclipse Sanders' record this year and potentially winning the Heisman.

It was his hamstring. His shoulder has been fine for a long time now. He had surgery on it and its been 100% for quite some time. If it was his shoulder he would play through it, like he did last season. However, you can't really play through a hamstring injury.

He played the whole 2nd half, so if you can't play through a hamstring then it wasn't a hamstring. I heard something about him having a stress fracture in his foot that happened in the Ohio State game and he has played through the pain all season. Anyone else hear this?

I dunno, if it was a stress fracture since Ohio State i would think the Coach and Wolfe would have announced it. They have said all season long that he is not injured. I don't know how someone with a stress fracture pulls off 350+ yards against a team. Not including all the other 200+ yard games he had before Ball State. If it is a stress fracture, then that just shows you how good Wolfe really is to lead the nation in rushing while playing injured for the entire season. But then again, he did that last season when his shoulder had issues before we even played against Michigan.

Doug Free suffered a stress fracture in the OSU. He's been playing through it since then.

Yeah, I knew that but I heard Wolfe did too. If Free can play on it, perhaps Wolfe can too and it has just got worse as the season has gone on and that is why he hasn't produced as the season has gone on.

Like I said though, it's just what I heard and may not be right. However, I know for a fact that unless someone is out for the season or something, coaches don't like to give out information about injuries......especially the exact area of an injury of a guy that is still playing.
Article in a Dekalb newspaper says Wolfe has a hamstring injury and a shoulder injury. The hamstring happened against WMU and the shoulder against Toledo in the 2nd quarter.

I guess that makes sense then. That was the game after Wolfe had 160+ yards rushing and 2 TD's against Miami. I really thought that Wolfe's problems were attributed to our O-lines play because if you watch them then you notice that Wolfe is getting tackled in the backfield constantly right after being handed off the ball. I never see holes in the front that would allow Wolfe to gain big yards like earlier in the season. I just don't get why Novak would rish further injuring him and screwing his NFL career by continuing to play him. Justin Anderson and Cas Prime are all capable backs. We need to see more of them because they are apart of our future.
