whoever this Jerry Palm guy is, he's an idiot. i say that not only because he's ignored Ohio; that's ok. his thoughts mean nothing to me. but he is saying Kent State would go to the Motor City Bowl. Everything I've read says that the Motor City Bowl gets the first pick and of course they would take either CMU or WMU before Kent State. 01-wingedeagle
True. But most of the so called "experts" don't realize those facts and totally ignore them when making their guesses, er, predictions. After all, it's "just the MAC."

yes you are correct. that's the basis upon which i made my "idiot" comment. hehe i agree totally that these guys make these "predictions" based on nothing more than a team's record or potential record. truly a joke.

Don't worry, once NIU loses to UT and CMU they won't be bowl eligible and Ohio will get the bowl bid. 05-stirthepot

lol yeah you're right. i was surprised people are still considering NIU to make a bowl anyway.
Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Ohio beat Kent? 01-wingedeagle

CMU isn't looking good for NIU but I like our chances vs UT, should be a good game. I really don't have any bowl hopes. We have had far superior teams that didn't go. Our only chance is to ride Wolfe's coattails to a bowl but he has lost a lot of steam with his recent lack of success on the ground.
WMU v Rutgers, Interesting matchup for the HC and QB @ WMU

This I would love to see.
One thing good about Jerry Palm, he does have a good grip on how many at-large opportunities open for the MAC.

He may have dropped the ball with some of the bowl matchups (hello does not ohio have victories over Kent, WMU, and NIU?) but he's crunching something with his computer to get the bowl availability.

Actually, all we need to do is win one game to be bowl eligible. 6-6 is considered bowl eligible. However, NIU will go 7-5 or 8-4, that's why most people continue predicting NIU to be in a bowl game. It's going to be hard for bowl committees to not take the MAC team with the best and most exciting player. Not to mention, we travel well.

Maybe instead of sitting at his computer all day he should pick up the phone and make some calls like we do?
Yes, we beat Kent........we beat WMU.........we beat NIU ........we even beat a BCS team too........something that Kent, CMU and NIU didn't do........we have the most wins in the MAC right now.....too.......and are bowl eligible.........I don't understand how facts like those are ignored.....One more win and Ohio is going to a bowl. The combined record of Ohio's remaining schedule 5-19......one less win that Ohio has......a bit of a slap in the face indeed.......The facts are Ohio is better than all three of those teams this year. We even have Akron at home....EMU and Miami had 2 wins combined.....those were UB and Toledo......neither has beat a team as good as Ohio all year. If those bowls ignore Ohio's wins head to head and overall record........is would be a shame......If Ohio gets 7 wins......they are in. I hope the team gets it done today.......

Unfortunate that the bowls dont look at all the stuff that really matters. It is only about tickets sold and butts in the seats.
We are not going to a bowl unless we win the East. That will take a sweep, or 2-1 with a Kent (and BG, I guess) loss.

Not that I'm going to say Kent is going to a bowl (I blame myself for jinxing us already), but it is still nice to see that the idiots are still considering us. A year ago even they knew we sucked.

6-6 is only bowl eligible to fill one of the conference's bowl tie-ins. WMU, CMU, Ohio, and KSU are all gonna have better records than NIU. You will need to win 2 of your last three to go 7-5 and hope you can steal a 4th bid away from the team that finished in 2nd in the East between Kent/Ohio. And even with going 7-5 you could be the odd man out and just considered the 5th team from the MAC which probably doesn't get a bid anywhere.

Sorry, that's just reality.
