This was printed in today's Buffalo News:

The Bulls may be struggling on the field, but they landed a verbal commitment from one of the top dual threat quarterbacks in the nation in Chris Johnson from Paterson, N.J.

The 6-foot-2, 202-pound Johnson ,from John F. Kennedy High, is rated the 22nd dual threat quarterback by Rivals.com and the 17th rated QB overall in New Jersey. He was being recruited by nearly all of the teams in the Big East, and was offered scholarships to Rutgers, Temple and Bowling Green.
stealing any recruits away from a top 25 team like rutgers is great news for this program. Good to see Gill is as good a recruiter as we'd hoped.
The MAC has a lot of momentum these days as a conference.....it is now one of the most respected conferences not in the BCS. The MAC has shown growth and its been growth with class.

I think you can't really see it now, but Temple is the Big East's loss will turn into the MAC's gain.......It will open the East up to Mid-Major recruiting and a lot of good kids who go to 1-AA schools in the A-10 will be heading to MAC campuses.

In 2006 West Virginia and Louisville are having big seasons....in 2003 it was Miami and Bowling Green.........the point being the MAC could very well put a team into the top 10 someday and be able to get Big East level recruits
This will be Gill's first legitimate recruiting class since he will have the full year to get verbal recruits and really get into kids' homes. He needs to get athletes here and this kid sounds like a great catch. UB is developing a decent drop back passer (even though Willy has a terrible O-line)...and you know Turner Gill wants a more dual threat type of QB who can create his own space. They have Starks but it looks like he can become an excellent RB. This team just needs more athletes and speed at every position to compete in the MAC.
Yeah, whatever. A team full of guys no Big East school wanted beat Ball State and almost beat Minnesota. Right now UB probably couldn't stay within 20 points of North Dakota State. Spare me the celebrations over little recruiting victories. Win some friggin games with who you have now.

Oh, I'm sorry...I thought recruiting was so you could get better players and win games. I didn't realize that our new coach had to stick with what we had left from our old coach (who obviously has proven he could recruit players that could win consitantly).

Man...looks like someone got up on the wrong side of the bed today.

He's just pissed because Akron is the only MAC school that has lost to Toledo. Even EMU beat us. ;-)

So North Dakota State is getting better players than UB and coaching has nothing to do with winning?
How long until Paul Harris back in jail?!
Ooooh! You got me on that one! Yes, now I see I am wrong.

TREMBLE IN FEAR MID-AMERICAN CONFERENCE!!!!!!!

UB got the 17th best quarterback in New Jersey!

So what happened to your man-crush on Drew Willy? I distinctly remember one of you lemmings last year referred to him as the "savior of UB."

Are you related to MH55??

You've got that backwards. All these guys who keep posting their pie-in-sky fantasies are MH55.

If anything, I'm the anti-MH55. I'm the realistic one.

Actually he is rated the 17th best player in New Jersey according to rivals. He is the 2nd ranked QB behind the Simms boy who committed to UofL. Rivals also has him as the 22nd ranked duel-threat quarterbank in the country. Sounds like a good get to me.
All I know Zib, is that TU just drew their 10th quality verbal, significantly better prospects than we had in the past, thats reality.

I also know that Al Golden was just a prospect himself for Temple this time last year and we still garnered the best recruiting class against ALL MAC teams, thats reality.

I also noticed Toledo's W over Akron and on the UT Board, the thread w/ the most posts and views is Temple's Win over BGSU !

That's reality......and I love it!

That's because of BG losing, not Temple winning. UT and BG are huge rivals, and it's funny as hell that they lost to Temple. Makes us feel better for sucking this year.

And just how do you figure that??

Everyplace (rivals, ESPN) I've seen has the MAC classes ranked:

1. Miami
2. Northern Illinois
3. Temple

Please cite a reliable source.
collegefootballnews.com had temple's class as #1 in the MAC. the ploblem is that collegefootballnews has now merged with scout.com and i can't find the ranking(dont really have time to either).
regardless of finding the post and not Temple was at least top 5 in every publication and will be at least a mid level MAC team in the coming years.
I'm talking about the '06 Class. This is what I see

Rivals
Temple 79
Miami 91
NIU 110

Scout-CFN
Miami 84
Temple 86
NIU 104

I cant find Max Emfinger & USA Today but they ranked Temple #1 for 2006

ps: Rocketfootball......that's great rationale! You know, please insert icon turning bowling green he's laughing so hard....

Maybe one day you will learn something about the MAC. Toledo/BG is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, rivalries in the MAC.
