Their board votes this week, Its a done deal, Their message board says it will pass big. The MAC should have offered them, They are in first place in their football conference and picked # 1 preseason in Sun Belt basketball. What else do you want?

We don't need anymore teams in the MAC for football. We will have already become the largest football conference once Temple officially joins and we don't even have enough bowl games yet. I understand that it would balance out the MAC division to have 14 teams, but did anyone ever consider that it would put MAC Basketball out of balance?

The MAC needs to kick members out, not add more. If we ever want WKU, then we can offer them once they have proven themselves in 1-A and the Sunbelt. We know they would leave the Sunbelt to join the MAC in a heartbeat.

I think WKU has its sights set on CUSA. They've always played in a southern conference and could make a nice addition in basketball for them.

I don't see WKU hooking in very well with our post-season opportunities located in Detroit, Toronto, and Cleveland.

A Memphis oriented league and southern bowl games would work much better for WKU alumni. Keep in mind, this school is practically in Tennessee.

MAC would be better off trying to court Army to give the league additional eastern presence. Send Bowling Green back to the West for football, where they are a better fit.
I think that WKU would have been worth considering. They help us in BB for sure. It also gives us a little southern flavor and all of our coaches are recruiting more and more in the south. I do not think that Army will ever be in our mix.

Very true, airport. Louisville is about twice as far away as Nashville. With rivalries already in place, and being a southern-based upstart conference, the Sunbelt is really the better fit for our football.

I wouldn't speak for all MAC coaching staffs as to a southern focus in recruiting.

Solich is focused on hitting the mid-atlantic harder from NJ down to North Carolina. Tennesse is not in the recruiting plans, though our starting QB is from there.

Nothing more than a dream, but Army would be a nice fit. They did play in CUSA for a while but backed out because of few regional rivalries. The MAC can give them more of a regional schedule and a conference championship to play for.

Navy is too high in the boots for the MAC with that rivalry against Notre Dame and big Washington-Baltimore media market.
Navy has a rivalry with Notre Dame? They have lost 43 consecutive times to the Irish.

They play ND every year plus Army and Air Force........they don't want to be saddled with a conference schedule.
Sounds like the MAC is happy to have 13 teams. As long as the MAC is cool with 7 teams in one division and 6 in the other. I think MAC will keep BGSU in the East. The fact that BGSU will still play in the east in basketball is a big factor.
From my perspective,( I don't know too much about it all and I really don't care ultimately but...) between the two WKU or TU - WKU makes MUCH more sense....someone (TU) got desperate and someone ( MAC) threw out a lifeline....clearer minds would see the commitment and quality that WKU is offering in the LONG term...maybe I'll be wrong and Temple will step up and join all sports, begin to win, draw national attention and begin to support the MAC - I just don't see it. If WKU does jump up CUSA is a natural fit - let's face it( and we all know about the "step-child syndrome" as MAC fans) the Sun-Belt sucks -it's a transient conference for transient programs

Bummer for the MAC

The MAC should drop BG for losing to Temple, and Toledo. Then with Temple, WKU would make 12 for the MAC.

BG can go to I-AA and Toledo can go to the WAC.
