Any chance these teams will be eliminated from bowl consideration following their brawl today? From the lowlights, it looked even worse than that SC-Clemson a while back. Kicking, punching, a guy swinging his helmet at someone's head, etc.
Yeah, the NCAA will be so mad, they'll eliminate FIU from bowl consideration.

That was so ugly that I'd be real surprised if there aren't some serious suspensions. The kid that stomped on the guy on the ground's legs, the guy who swung his helmet, the FIU player that appeared to start the brawl.

I'm sure somewhere (numerous places) there have been folks huddled over the video in slo-mo taking names and numbers. Miami is a bunch of thugs. Coker may lose his job over this mess - or resign. Heat is already on him but it is obvious his team is very undisciplined and he can't control them.

Heads are gonna roll. Oh, they already did? lmfao lmfao lmfao
The NCAA will probably put both teams on double secret probation and sternly warn them not to do this again when they play next or they may not be bowl eliglible in 2005 / sarcasm off/

I'd say the worst of the bunch was the guy kicking at the player pinned down on the ground. It's one thing for a couple guys to square off when facing each other. But to stomp on a guy laying there who can't see anything is a disgrace. Needs to be suspended the rest of the season, at least.

The other ugly display were the Miami(FL) players jumping and celebrating on the sidelines after showing their thugness to the country (Not that FIU was any less guilty in their thuggary, of course).
Most of the players on both teams played HS ball against each other. So there was animosity between some of the players before the opening kick-off.FIU's new AD Pete Garcia(former UM Recruiting Coordinator and Senior Associate AD-Garcia left UM a week ago.)billed this game earlier in the week as a new crosstown rivalry akin to USC-UCLA.

Merriweather is from Apopka (Orlando). He was the stomper, and a potential All-America Safety. ;-)

Any of you guys old enough to remember when Miami players used to get off the airplane wearing combat fatigues . . . guess the mentality is still there! This act was not received well by the viewing public.

Yeah, that was Vinny Testaverde and co. famously getting off the plane in Arizona for the Fiesta Bowl in full battle gear. Then they got waxed by Penn State in the game, and Vinny threw something like 6 interceptions.
Battle fatigues or prison mentality, take your pick..

when it comes to the University of Miami, there isn't much of a distinction between those two!
Both will be eliminated from any possible bowl participation, just another whack for the ACC which will likely not send a team to a BCS game if Boise St keeps winning as they did tonite over NM ST. Boise will rise enough in the standings to earn BCS bowl consideration over the ACC champ if they win out.

Gee, sounds like his performance with the Browns.

Did anyone hear the audio...Lamar Thomas doing color was backing the whole thing..said something to the affect that he wanted to get into the fight....

Miami and FIU both deserve two year ban for post season play period.

Cash did do a damn fine cover of that song though.

As for Miami/FIU...separate from outside action were I president or AD at either place I'd give serious consideration to forfeiting the rest of the season. Guaranteed I'd forfeit the next game on the schedule. The whole team needs to be punished- they all got into it. And the egregious violators would be thrown off the team (stomping guy and helmet swinging guy for example)
The NCAA won't do anything to bowl invites. They didn't with Clemson and South Carolina. Those individual schools were so embarrassed by what happened that they pulled themselves out of bowl eligibility, not the NCAA.

Miami isn't embarrassed. A former player that is now in the radio booth was cheering on the Miami players during the fight and saying how great it was to see them "defending their turf and beating up another team."

Miami was, is, and always will be a dirty team and a disgrace. Their administration doesn't care as much as they will try to make you think and they will be playing in a bowl game this year.
