Very plausible NIU will still be in the championship game...here is one of many possible realistic scenarios.

Central Michigan (6-2)

W BOWLING GREEN
L WESTERN MICHIGAN
L @ NORTHERN ILLINOIS
W @ BUFFALO

Western Michigan (5-3)

L @ BALL STATE
W EASTERN MICHIGAN
W MIAMI-OH
W @ CENTRAL MICHIGAN
L @ AKRON

Northern Illinois (6-2)

W TOLEDO
W CENTRAL MICHIGAN
W @ EASTERN MICHIGAN

MAC WEST CHAMPIONS -- NORTHERN ILLINOIS
I understand optimism, but you are friggin' nuts!

It's possible, anything's possible, but we need CMU to lose two. BG and Buffalo, doubtful. That means we need to beat them and WMU needs to beat them.

Here is the problem with that. Then WMU needs to lose 2 more. I can see Akron coming up and biting them, but I just don't see them losing any other games except for the CMU game, but that wouldn't do us any good.

Wouldn't be having this conversation had we not layed 2 ugly eggs.

I hope to god it could work out, but it's looking very, very unlikely.

Everything is realistic, but you are right getting that extra loss for WMU could be a problem, it will all come down to the WMU Ball State game next week. GO CARDINALS.
anything remains possible.
the scenario appears highly unlikely.

I was just thinkin before today's game the most bizarre of finishes to the regular season.

What IF NIU wins MAC WEST and OHIO wins MAC EAST and NIU repeats last year's MACC debacle game.

Highly unlikely....No
The only result which might be tough from the above is Ball State beating WMU next weekend. If BSU beats WMU, you can put NIU right in the mix.

Have you been 04-drinky again? You may want to lay off that stuff it really is clouding your judgement. ;-)

Which result from the above does not have a good chace of happening?

I think the focus now goes to trying to get a bowl.

MACC seems a bit unrealistic at this point.

I don't see Ball State beating Western.
In a year where Kent St. and CMU are the divisional leaders...

ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN

The bowl games look to be Kent St., WMU and CMU for now.

Nah, there is only one Ohio team in that list. ;-)

P.S. MD02, all those look improbable.

Well MCB will want CMU or WMU, GMAC will get Kent and Toronto Bowl will get the MCB leftovers.

Give me some of what your smoking, drinking or eating. IF Phil is benched we have a chance. With him at QB its "see you next year".
If Bowling Green beats CMU next week, then CMU beats Western and we beat Central and run the table, who goes to the MACC?

In that scenario, all three teams would have two losses with us having the tiebreaker on CMU, CMU holding the tiebreaker on WMU, and WMU having it on us.
our only hope for a bowl game is that Wolfe gets back on track and has a chance at the record, in which case we are more attractive than the MAC champs in all 3 of the bowls

Perfectly put...this is the essential question...can anyone answer it accurately?

Yep, they look at the combined records of the East teams that all three teams have played. Best combined record goes to the MACC.

Well then we're screwed since we played the two worst teams in the East.

Not us. Why? Because it never goes our way. Remember 2000 or 2001, whatever year it was when NIU, Toledo and Ball State were all tied? We had the tie-breaker over BSU, BSU had it over Toledo and Toledo had it over us. Who goes? I'd love to know the next tie-breaker.

I believe you, but in most other sports, the next tiebreaker would be win-loss records within the division.
