You know what, people? Let me explain something to you.

This is called FOOTBALL. This is a GAME. This is ENTERTAINMENT. Nobody's life depends upon this game or upon the rest of the season for that matter.

If you don't want to be a part of that entertainment for the rest of the season, fine. If you don't think it's entertaining, fine. But quit whining like children. I get enough of that from my own kids.

If you don't want to watch, don't watch. But act like adults.
:clap2:

:shhh:
Watching our team not play our best players is not entertaining.
Why are there 20 threads saying Phil and Joe suck. I think a combined one thread would have gotten the point across. I swear when NIU loses the scum of society pop up.
For most of the game, watching NIU was not entertaining, because our team didn't really do much. The last 3 minutes of the game was entertaining. Watching WMU's coach get in a hissy fit over all of the mistakes was entertaining. Watching WMU make big plays was entertaining. Joking about how bad NIU was with my dad was entertaining. I'm not angry, and I'm not sad. This is football, and only one team can win. Both teams had to win to stay in the MACW race, and WMU had a good game plan and they dominated. That's life I guess.
Folks, let me just say this was a frustrating day...and in retrospect if you need someone to blame for the loss, consider looking my way.

All three of my teams played today [undergrad/masters (NC State), doctorate (Georgia), and current faculty (NIU)] . . . and a frightening trend developed.

All three lost to "lesser" teams by two points.

Wake Forest 25 NC State 23
Vanderbilt 24 Georgia 22
W Mich 16 NIU 14

Now, having stepped up and taken my share of the responsibility for this loss, I am all for the entire NIU coaching staff being taken behind a woodshed and vigorously beaten. The gameplan was hideous and their stubborn refusal to make adjustments (or their inability to do so) is inexcusable.
I don't know if you invited a curse upon your teams or not but the observation about stubborness and/or not having plan B when A is failing badly for an extended period is, I agree , very puzzling if not downright disturbing.

I saw little in our play selection that said new wrinkle or a special series of set plays designed to counter what WMU was doing defensively.

Why not a flea flicker , draw plays , an end around...reverse with Perez/Davis on occasion rather than continue to set PHIL up to be creamed or hurried on most passing downs...? We know he is not very mobile, nor a scrambler nor athletic enuff to throw on the run effectively but why not taking off downfield for a few plus yards rather than one negative play after another negative play...

geez I wish I knew alot more about football to understand why the O was so unable to find any sustained success.

We went from best to worst offense within only sixty minutes in Kzoo.
I believe that we had 8 YARDS of offence at halftime. When we came out in the second half WE RAN THE SAME OFFENCE. That is not entertainment unless you are a WMU fan.
The frustrating part as you all say is lack of change. Running up the middle is not working so...

lets run up the middle again?

Very dissapointing to watch this offense stuck in neutral

Look in the mirror before you insult. That last sentence shows you have the class of a teacher with no students.

Doesn't this post say it all??????

Someone who disagrees we were outcoached please explain.

Do we not have one formation that involves two backs? Can we put a TE in the backfield? Can we do anything to help Garrett, or do we keep running him into blitzing linebackers and hope he can fly over them? The answer ever since Bond go here is the latter. That, to me, is like stealing your salary, Mr. Bond. I think the number of coaches that couldn't outcoach these two coordinators has to number about 1 or 2 total in the entire universe, and we are not going to recruit the Michigan State staff, so we should be better off in any change we make.

It's time for us to start a petition to ask Bond and Doornbos to resign. It's the honorable thing to do. You know Joe probably won't fire you Mr Bond and Mr Doornbos, and you shouldn't make him do it. You should do the honorable thing and resign.

Ahhhhhhh, yes, but sports are a very distinct and exceptional form of entertainment in that they're an entertainment medium which has the ability to make you feel absolutely miserable if things don't go your way.

It's only entertaining and fun when you win, isn't it?

As to the issue of people whining on a sports messag board, I can only ask-what is it that you expect? Sports message boards are universally forums in which juvenille nerds whine and complain about their irrational fixation on sporting entities. It's the nature of the beast.

If you don't want to read it, don't read it. ;-)

Judging from the number of people on this board that bet on sports, there is a possibility that someones life does dependon the game/season. Heck, if nothing else, a broken bone or 2. ;-)
I love Huskie football and will still be at every single game, but this is not entertaining, I'm sorry. For me, this is what I live for.
