Phil Horvath or our offensive line?

I honestly can't decide. Both have been putrid this year.

Wolfe is a one-man team this year. Imagine if he actually had decent players around him? 03-weeping

Who is Jason Horvath?

It's hard to block 9,10,11 guys.
[I fixed Phil's name -- I'm so disappointed that my mind isn't working right. ;-) ]

You can add Marcus Perez to that group. What good is a fast wide receiver if he can't hold on to the football?
the o-line is more overrated. phil just can't play. wee all know the oline can play, but phil can't.

Sorry to add to this MD02 but they both suck.
Horvath, the O-Line is young and SHOULD improve

Meanwhile you are calling for my head, HCOYH's head, the offensive coordinators head. Actually you are right, the lowest element of society.

But why, we won the MAC West last year. According to you, coaches who win "championships" shouldn't be fired. Way to make up your mind.

First off to clear up your records, NIU basketball won the championship outright, and NIU football was co-champs. But that is not the point, we have way too many offensive weapons on this football team to have the kind of performances we have seen this year. I just feel that our great talent in Wolfe was used more as a crutch than a weapon. We took the safe route and leaned on Wolfe when we had plenty of opportunities to actually develop an offense against our subpar competition. The MAC championship game taught us nothing obviously and I do agree it is Novak's fault to the point he did not deal with the offensive play calling issue.

The bball team had too many weapons last year, and we did jack crap with them. We had great talent in Peterson, Sims, Hughes, Rand, but they didn't see as much time as they should've as starters.

It was insane that 3/4ths of those players you mention were even on the court at times last year because of how banged up they were. That is one of the forgotten things about last year is everyone playing through injury.

Since when was Peterson and Sims and Rand playing through injuries. When Rand got hurt he was done, no playing through for him. I don't recall Hughes being hurt, just in bad shape.
The fact that this team had a real opportunity to achieve the near impossible with a win today ( a 3 game road conference sweep) has caused alot of anger and angst. Coaching staff is as responsible as the players for this loss.

A win today despite getting beaten in stats would have been epic.
I am in no way calling for anyone's head. When I came to NIU, our football team was in the middle of a 23 game losing streak, and as far as I'm concerned, Joe Novak can be coach for life. That being said, I believe Coach Novak has some glaring flaws as a coach. You can pretty much count on a loss or a barely escape with your life win when NIU gets a big lead early, because of Joe's extremely conservative play calling.

Now back to Phil Horvath and the offensive line. They have both looked bad most of the season, but particularly this last game. I especially noticed the play where one of the opposing linemen beat *TWO* niu blockers to get to the quarterback. That was just pathetic. And Wolfe never had a chance all game, because he was constantly hit by two guys in the backfield.
