UB is closed today, state of emergency in Western NY, 250K without power, 14 inches on the ground at Buffalo-Niagara Int'l airport.
damn Lake Erie is killing us. This is even ridiculous for Buffalo.
I'm supposed to be driving home right now but I can't because the Thruway is closed. I'm stuck in Rochester (where there is not a single flake of snow on the ground).

Don't they know it's only mid-October?!!! 03-weeping 03-weeping 03-weeping
Unfreakingbelieveable....What have you guys gotten? 2 feet?
Almost the entire northcentral plus PA & NY got hit by this cold snap. I left Chicago on Monday with 70 degree plus weather and returned TH nite to subfreezing temps and 25 mph winds! 03-hissyfit
I understand that UB will announce later (3:00p.m.) the game status.

Will Miami be able to get into Buffalo this weekend? (I'd assume today would have been their travel day).

and secondly (my bonus question), if Miami can't, when could the game be made up????

P.S. it isn't FB weather and it certainly ain't baseball weather either.
I would assume they could play on Sunday afternoon. The weather is supposed to calm down and by Sunday it's supposed to be partly sunny, 50. winds 10-15 mph. much nicer than Saturday's forecast. The game is already an attendance disaster as it is so moving to Sunday shouldn't matter.
Coincidentally, I was on the phone with somebody from the MAC and Buffalo's weather situation came up. They mentioned that the game may be postponed...nothing official...just there is some concern about getting this game played on Saturday.
UPDATE: A decision on tomorrow's football game is to be made by 3pm today.

Friday's soccer games and Saturday's swim meet have all been cancelled already.

I came to work to check things out and check email. Ironically, no snow in Niagara Falls. All they got here is rain.

I haven't had power since Thursday night. They said 380,000 people lost power- its now down to 200,000 without power.

While the national headlines said snow, the problem was not the 2 feet of snow. The Buffalo area is more than capable of handling 2 feet of snow.

The problem was wet snow that clung to trees that still had their leaves. Falling limbs blocked the roads and knocked out the power lines. The plows couldn't even get to my street until Friday afternoon because of the obsticle course of downed trees and wires. With the rapidly melting wet snow, a lot of people have their furnature floating in their basements (electric sump pumps without electricity).

Most of Amherst still doesn't have power. I'm not sure they have power yet on campus or at the stadium. Ironically, it a beautiful day today. Sunny with the temp in the 50's. It's a good day for some football.

Now if I just don't get a ticket for ignoring the driving ban to get to the stadium!
