Lost somewhere between the top three right tackles being injured, starting a true freshman at right guard because of injury, a QB that can't pass, and an OC that forgot UT runs the football.

I would say there is nothing wrong with the depth at running back. Despite all the injuries on the offensive line, here are some numbers:

Jalen Parmele - 5.0 ypc
DaJuane Collins - 7.3 ypc
Scooter McDougle - 8.2 ypc

9 rushing touchdowns combined from Parmele, Richard Davis, and DaJuane Collins. Considering all things, I think our running backs are doing fine.......there just not getting the ball enough, but that is the OC's fault.
I'd really appreciate it if Toledo could wait another week before putting it back together.

lmfao Could you now post how many carries they had?
I think that we will still be hearing from Getsy as the season progresses. The Kent State game was one in which the Flashes got up on them big early and forced them into being one dimensional. Kent's D held up when they knew he was going to have to throw. They did their job and made things tough for Getsy.

I think Luke misses Hixon. Mr. "big play." Personally, I think that expectations for Akron this year were a little bit overblown based on one great desperation play which won them the MACC. A good team last year, yes. Great one? That's debateable. Great one this year? Despite a good OOC win, not looking that way so far. Time will tell.....

Parmele 5.1 ypc 73 attempts
Collins 7.4 ypc 14 attempts
Opelt 6.2 ypc 17 attempts
McDougle 8.2 ypc 6 attempts
Davis 2.76 ypc 33 attempts
Davis is #13 in the nation in KO returns (28.2 ypr) and #2 in the MAC.
Akron left the running game way too early on Saturday. They did not have to go to all-out pass mode until the fourth quarter, yet they started late in the second quarter.

Getsy has a great arm and was hurt by drops, but he is a statue. His experienced offensive line is struggling right now for whatever reason, and he does not get out of trouble. Neither of his fumbles should have happened and they cost Akron 9 points. He has to protect the ball better.
This is typical inconsistent Getsy. But, I watched the game again when I got home. There were 6 dropped passes by Akron recievers that would have been first downs. Kasperak dropped 3, Arthur dropped 2, and Lindsay dropped 1 which would have been a big play!

Now on the other hand. Luke's 3 fumbles can be blamed on the weather but every other game he is good for 3 turnovers.

Penn State - 2 interceptions and 1 fumble - L
NC State - 0 interceptions, 0 fumbles - W
CMU - 3 interceptions, 0 fumbles - L
N. Texas - 0 interceptions, 0 fumbles - W
Kent State - 0 interceptions, 3 fumbles - L

Luke controls the Akron season. If he takes care of the ball Akron wins. If he doesn't Akron loses. If Cool Hand Luke shows up when he did last season, this year it will be too late, simple as that!

We may have some depth, but it does no good when the top 2 guys constantly run up the back of the O-line. Parmalee reminds me of Michael Pittman with the Bucs...he hits the hole hard, but does not have the vision to find the crease and gain extra yardage. I'm not sure why Davis is # 2 behind Parmalee. Thus far, I have not seen him do anyting to warrant that position. Collins and McDougle need to get more touches.

Watching the Pitt game, the UT OL was lousy. I know you have some injuries and shuffling there, and it showed.

But I'm trying to figure out just who the hell Richard Davis is to so demonstrably scream at the center for a bad snap on the 4th down attempt early in the game. I could see Gradkowski or Dawson or someone like that getting in his face, but a second string RB who should have secured the snap to begin with?? And he really went after the guy, who probably should have crushed him like a bug.

Combined they are about 100 attempts, which would normally be about four games worth for one player.

It only stinks if you don't clean it every once in a while. Get a wash cloth and soap........I mean get a new excuse every once in a while and you will be fine.

I noticed that too...the guy should have throttled him. Quit B!tching and get it done!
Getsey threw some nice balls the other day, especially the two TDs down the middle, showing off his strong arm, but he is too inconsistent IMO. I watched him against Penn State and thought he did pretty decent considering the circumstances. I noticed he went to the line of scrimmage every down and appeared to be rattled as a result of the crowd noise, running every play clock down to 0, then I figured he probably wasn't used to playing in front of large crowds like 100000 at PSU when Akron had one of the worst attendance totals in the nation last year and the crowd noise bothered him quite a bit. Then I saw the same performance again this weekend against Kent. I know the Kent student section did a great job of making noise, but Getsey needs to maintain his composure and not appear as rattled. I think he will improve as the season goes on, he has definitely proven to be better in the past, but he has a ways to go before he makes himself a definite NFL player as he has claimed.

you won, i get that. i have no room to brag about attendance but when i do i will take the chance... like HERE for instance.... akron did not have the worst attendance in the nation last year... it was better than yours. I know because i single handedly counted people in the stands during a game of yours. wait, ok i lied... it did take me two hands to count everyone lmfao .
You're right, you don't have room to brag. Pitiful attendance for a MAC Champ team. Well, it at least should have been better for a 7-6 team. At least we had an excuse at 1-10..
You're right I'm wrong, Akron didn't have the worst in D-1A last season but neither did Kent State. I could have sworn I saw it reported during the Penn State game or maybe somewhere else that they only had somewhere in the 5 or 6 thousand per game range. They were all of 2 spots ahead of KSU in the rankings though, and KSU didn't win a D-1A game all year while Akron was at the top of the conference, so thats nothing to brag about. Didn't hurt the Zippers that they drug some whinos and crack heads off Exchange St., bussed them to the game and gave them free tickets just to boost their paltry total. 04-cheers
