After 5 weeks the Bowl contenders and pretenders are emerging.
MCB- WMU 3-1 1-0 Looks like the best MAC team so far. 2 OOC wins.
GMAC-Kent State 3-2 3-0 .....which bowl should be the question now

International Bowl-NIU 3-2 2-1 Wolfe has the draw that Bowls and TV will watch.

BGSU 3-2 2-1 They right in mix with winning 3 of 4.

CMU is 2-0 in the MAC, but 2-3. Win over Akron not as impressive now.

Akron 2-3 0-2 Win over NC State was good, loss to Kent hurt bowl hopes.
WMU in the MCB would be great period. Good for the fans, good for the bowl attendance.

If they picked up the concessions contract, GM and Ford might even turn a profit from the event!

It would be great to see Wolfe featured somewhere in a bowl. Frankly, I'm not sure either the International or the GMAC bowl would give him good attention. I guess the IB has the higher profile opponent, but I'd like to see another option. Yes, would 4 bowls be possible?

Akron- have the highest profile OOC wins. A bowl win would be good for this program. Especially since they are recruiting out of state.

Kent- Certainly look primed for a MAC E title.

BG- Too uncertain to call. Certainly I believe it's conceivable this team could finish 9-3. If they did, it would be a shame to see 9-3 sit at home.
With what we have seen thus far. I am going with Kent State vs N Illinois in the MACC.

Bowls:

- Toronto Bowl - Kent State (close enough for fans to travel)

GMAC Bowl - N Illinois

Motor City - W Michigan (will be good for attendance, but bad for Detroit hotels maybe)

However, I'm not sure on the bowl picking rules, can Kent State end up at the Toronto Bowl if they are in the MACC? Do they automatically get to either Motor City or GMAC Bowl if they play in the MACC?
It's gonna take me until Wed or Thurs to believe myself, but I think Toledo will be in the mix in the bowl outlook. We're into MAC play and we can't get much worse.

While 9-3 is possible, I would be more than midly surprised if we won 9 games this year.
The West picture is still very cloudy. With UT's only loss at WMU, I don't think you can discount them much in the West race. Huge game at the Glass Bowl this weekend vs. CMU will clear some things up about both teams. CMU and WMU have looked strong and NIU seems dangerous, but losing to OU at home raises lots of doubts about their D.
If UT can win their next two, (CMU then @KSU on the 14th) they are right in the thick of the MAC race. (And if they lose them both, it's lights out.) Obviously, with NIU-WMU-CMU all needing to play each other, it's up for grabs. But anyone thinking that UT is not a serious contender still with only one road loss needs to take a step back.

Detroit has hotels?
Kent State should beat Toledo. Akron is a bit better than Toledo. Toledo isn't the same team as last year. Kent State is not a fluke if you watched that game this weekend. I think its the best performance I've seen from Kent State in decades. Kent State might run the table. 3 mac games where most mac teams would have lost....Kent state won. Those were the the hardest 3 games Kent State plays in the MAC. Ball State, EMU, Buffalo, Ohio and home with Toledo..........up two games on the entire division with tiebreakers over BG and Miami. I see atleast 7-1 most likely 8-0 for Kent State.

Windsor is bad for Detroit hotels. It's a little safer, has the casino plus lots of backfields in motion off the football field. 04-jawdrop
I like the enthusiasm and optimism, but I don't think any/many KSU fans are thinking about 7-1 or 8-0. Saturday was helped by a spirited crowd and the fact I think Akron players were still thinking about the KSU team that lost 35-3 last Thanksgiving.

I, along with Phil Steele, ;-) chalked up Toledo as a loss. Ball State at the end also is a concern because of their ability to always play big against "good" teams. If KSU beats OU at the end of the month, that makes the East Division nearly clinched but only because it can be won with a 6-2 record.

BG has to win at either Toledo or Akron to go 6-2 in the MAC. I don't see either happening. Both are still good teams.

I have family in Windsor. Best view of Detroit in from Canada. Windsor has a decent red light district too.......(cough) so I hear?
