This BSU fan seems to think so..

What are your thoughts on this? Personally, the thought of a mobile QB with a good arm always scares me. But Lynch beat us last year so naturally I fear him as well.
If he's better then Lynch that's not good news for us. We had enough trouble with Lynch.
The Coaches must think he's good to start him in place of a team captain.

Or the coach is looking for an excuse to live up to a recruiting promise, and his team stinking against NDSt gives him a reason.

I'll take my chances against a true frosh any day.

This would be a blessing for the Huskies. Lynch does give us fits, kind of like when Santana is pitching against the Sox, you pray for the bullpen to come on, well come on in Nate Davis!
If the kid does start...blitz, blitz and blitz

I hope they start Davis because Lynch owns us.

A 1-2 record does not define owning. What are his numbers?

He does own us, the Huskies could not stop him 2 years ago in Muncie, but then again during that visit to BSU he had Dante Ridgeway to throw to.
That's why I'm asking. I don't remember.

I think he only threw for like 180 last year at Huskie stadium but he didnt need to pass. HEre is the box score from 2004

Why? We won't get to the QB and now we have fewer guys in coverage. Our pass rush is definitely our achilles heel. God I wish we had recruited some good DTs who could stop the run and put on a pass rush. We really blew it recruiting this position.

I'd drop alot of guys to make him be patient and find guys. Alot of the time young QBs have a problem with being patient.

Just change up your looks, show him different things, and on passing downs make him be patient.

You are right G. They can get happy feet and make mistakes also. If we could get to the QB I would say bring the house, but we can't so take our chances going for the INT.
I say pants him. The embarassment alone will adversly affect his play....plus, he'll always be looking over his shoulder for the next guy.

Do you know if Davis is a mobile guy?

If he is, again dropping alot of guys would be a good idea. Mobile QBs are less likely to sit back there and wait for guys to get open; they tend to get the itch to take off and run.
Davis is mobile, although he hasnt really tried yet, I think the coaches are trying to make sure he has a pass first run second mentality. He was in the dual threat QB list during recruiting.

It appears Davis is indeed the starter.

The QB isn't going to get happy feet unless we get some pressure on him, and a new QB is much more likely to throw ill-advised passes under pressure than a senior QB. I think we need to pick our spots and blitz. That doesn't always mean 3rd and long because they'll throw a screen pass and pick up the 1st down. We need to make the new QB uncomfortable and less confident. I think we've shown we can rush 3 guys and still not have enough guys in the secondary to cover all the receivers sufficiently. One thing's for sure, we need to tackle guys as soon as they catch the ball and we need to hit them hard so they're thinking about it on the next pass play.
