Hope I didnt butcher the name too bad.

He looked GREAT in preseason.

Look forward to seeing his progress.
You didn't butcher his name at all. I hope he isn't being pressed into service too early and I also hope the linemen help keep his internal organs intact. We were hoping to see him in Pittsburg the is weekend, but he'll be preparing for the Saints.

Do QBs still wear flak jackets? Don't know how much those help or if Simms was wearing one but if I were Bruce I'd wear two.
That makes at least 6 MAC QBs starting a gmae in the NFL this year (assuming Bruce DOES start).
It's unfortunate the circumstances around why he is starting, but I think its a great opportunity for him. Especially since he wasn't drafted.

he was drafted in the 6th round

Six? I think it's five. We ran through the NFL probables for this Sunday for our weekly MAC preview. This is who we have from the MAC:

Gradkowski (TB)
Leftwich (Jax)
Pennington (Jax)
Roethlisberger (Pitt)
Frye (Cleve)
Batch started a game earlier this year making Gradowski the 6th to start a game this year

Wouldn't Culpepper be a MAC QB? He played for UCF when they were in the MAC.

UCF was not in the MAC when Culpepper was there. Although Toledo did play against him in 1998 in a non-conference game against UCF.

Yeah, it is pretty impressive that the undrafted guy from Toledo will get his first NFL start before the three first round picks of Leinhart, Young and Cutler.

Frances is correct. I was counting Batch. And Pennington is with the Jets, not Jax, I think.

Yeah, I meant Jets...but I misread your post...sorry...you are right, counting Batch it would be six. Five starters going into this weekend.

Which, in NFL team planning vernacular means that they never expected him to start his first year.

Unfortunate circumstances, but a phenomenal opportunity for Bruce. Hopefully the supporting cast gives him more help than they gave Simms.

I think Bruce will be using his mobility this weekend. It's a tough situation but it will be good experience. It just shows that Bruce should not have fallen to the 6th round. It might not be apparent in this, his first regular-season game, but I'm confident he'll continue to prove his worth.
Bruce will have more starts than Paris Hilton's boy toy after Sunday.

The Bucs have a bye this week.
Thank god I got no Bucs on my fantasy team. I would have been screwed.

Unless you are drafted in the Top Ten of the 1st round, you are not expected to start in your first year if you are a QB, so what's your point?

You know another guy that was drafted in the 6th round once.........Tom Brady.
