Coaches Corner 9-7-06

Novak doesn't think NIU would beat OSU in a rematch, but he feels the Huskies can play better than they showed. Nordin was the guest. Was asked about the impact of crowd noise. Response lead to believe NIU was intimidated initially. Crowd noice caused at least 2 offensive plays to be run incorrectly. Nordin said Beal, Koronkovich, and Davis make the TE position very athletic. Must get help for Wolfe... but won't see a D like that probably again this year. Novak singled out Clanton to get carries... he appears to be really high on this player. Remember how Wolfe's name would come up during the Burner period? Concerns for Left Guard, look to see more of Onyeabuagu ? potentially. (Can we just call him the Big O?)
Anyway, due to injuries Cooke from HF may see time on D line. LB's Allen and Hanson will probably start Ohio game and Tranchitella to see more PT.

Novak not happy with the line/coverage on punts. Worked on in practice this week. Not happy with new time rules during game.
Sorry so choppy but no time. And I'm sure I forgot something too.
I'm glad to learn the noontime radio show continues given that Fattys is hosting IHS.

Where is Coaches Corner held?
Did he really say Allen and Hansen will both start? I know he has to be happy with McCarthy, and I thought they are satisfied with the job Blalark is doing. Unless we are moving to a 3-4, I doubt both Allen and Hansen will start. Or did he mean Allen and Hansen will be in the initial rotation, with Tranch, playing some later on at as well at the LB spot?
Any change on defense is probably better then what they have been doing. I still think unless there is a philosophy change it won't matter.
as long as the coaches find that darned trip wire that comes out when defending deep pass plays....

I believe it is held at the University Bookstore the week before home games and at the Junction Eatery the week before road games (or vice versa).
Lets not forget that we played the Number 1 team in the nation in one of the most intimidating venues in the country. I expect a big offensive outburst Sat with Britt Davis having a big game and I just cannot see garrett ever not having a big game. Britt gets one on one coverage, Horvath checks off and goes to Britt every time.
The more I watch the GWolfe videos the more respect I have for him AS WELL AS the NIU team.

Once again I repeat those wearing Scarlet were not named for Ms OHara.
