This series makes sense for both programs I would think. It's a good rivalry game, the colleges are only 90 minutes apart, and for Marshall it'd be about the only recurring away game remotely close to Huntington. (so their fans can travel easily by car to see their team).
i think it's a great idea. this could equate to the situation Miami has annually with Cincinnati. it makes perfect sense (and cents!). ;-)

Don't compare sUCks to Marshall... sUCks has some sense of respectability.

that was not my point. i was comparing the situation of having a conference rival and a non-conference rival scheduled each year. i was not implying any sort of connection between Cincinnati and Marshall. calm down! lol
This should be Ohio attendance. Marshall game drew well in Peden and had lots of energy. Ohio getting a regular home OOC game every other year is a big deal. Hard to get teams to play in Athens and do it where teams make good money.
Here is my updated list of future Bobcat schedules reflecting the signed Marshall series..........

Why keep scheduling all of the I-AA teams?

Solich has said that he wants a 1AA game every year as a "tune up" for the season. The ideal non-con schedule desired by Solich/athletic dept. is:

1AA team at home
non-BCS/low-level BCS team at home (Northwestern, Connecticut, Wyoming, UL Lafeyette)
non-BCS/low-level BCS team on the road
low-level BCS or major BCS school on the road (Virginia Tech, Ohio State, etc.)
even God's gift to college football (i.e., Ohio A & M University) is scheduling 1-AA teams. Youngstown State comes to Ohio Stadium for a two-game series starting next year (at least I think it's next year).

with the 12-game schedule now, it makes perfect sense for I-A teams to schedule I-AA teams. well, unless you're Colorado! heheheh
If you project those games. Ohio could be looking at some 3-1 OOC records. Is 2010 in Athens or Huntington? If its in Athens......I see us with 4-0 start perhaps that OOC season. AD has to give Solich a chance to get some W's and get us to a bowl. The losing season should be ending soon in Athens. This year might be the last one for a while with those OOC schedules. Kirby must give the team a chance to post some W's that will let Frank turn the program into a steady winner the Novak has done at NIU.
