We're seeing some info on the internet saying that the police enforce open container laws IN OSU parking lots...is this true? Is it a problem? Do people drink anyway? Do they go somewhere else?

EDIT: Question answered, see thread title for further clarification.
Can someone post this over on BuckeyePlanet, too? I'm too lazy to register.
I just posted this on another thread but...

Alcohol has never been "allowed" but thanks to our administration, it is getting more attention in the last few years.

My advice is to bring some opague plastic cups to pour your adult beverage into, discard the empties in a trash container, out of sight. Do not give the police a reason to come around (i.e. obnoxious behavior etc). They won't bother you unless they see it, or there are problems.

If they do come around, put the glass down on the ground asap and deny, deny, deny. If caught, you will get a ticket, or go to jail, if you are underage.

And yes, everybody does it.
Depends on what you're drinking as well. Some mixed drinks look especially at home in 2 liter bottles of Coke, lemonade, and various other juices and fruit punch.
Wow. I thought Columbus was going to change my thoughts about Ohio being the worst state in the nation, but it appears not.

Thanks for the info though.
If you are inside a fenced in or roped off tailgating area, you will be fine. If you walk down the street with an open beer, even if it's in a cup you are taking a risk. The police have been cracking down on the open containers in recent years. If you are under 21, keep it discreet. They have a mobile drunk tank that is parked about a block from the stadium and they use it.

Hahaha, sounds like a paddywagon :smokie:
Just keep it down low and don't do much to draw attention to yourself... public intoxication isn't tolerated too well....

Keep in mind, there are lots of undercovers that are adorned in Buckeye gear to appear as though they fit in...

We all know this more than sucks, trust me, no one hates this more than Buckeye fans... just be smart and don't go parading it around and you should be fine...

NIU Tailgaters are in trouble. HMM have a notepad handy so that you can write your prison experience. It will make good reading when you get out. ;-)

How about just dumping the liquid on the ground and let them figure it out from there. Then deny, deny, deny..... lmfao
