Miami over Purdue is my best shot upset pick.
i say Miami over Northwestern.

Northwestern looks like a quality team.
Maybe the loss of a coach plays into your prediction.
WMU vs Indiana. Several pundits picked IN for last place in the Big 10

2nd is Akron beating PSU. Everyone talks about how many holes Ohio State has on defense, PSU has holes on both sides of the ball returning 5 O starters(new starting QB) and 4 on D with both punter and kicker returning.
In contrast Akron returns a large number of starters on both sides of the ball including QB. PSU has a great LB in Paul Posluszny, plus All Big 10 performers DL Jay Alford, RB Tony Hunt and OL Levi Brown. Getsy should have no trouble throwing the football against a defense with limited experience.

yeah i think it's going to be won on emotion and miami, being at home and being the home of Walker, will have just enough to knock off NU, although i can see MU being able to beat Purdue too.
EIU was undefeated in the OVC last year, returns 18 starters including 3 on 1AA All American teams will give Illinois all it can handle in it's home opener.

SIU earned it's 3rd straight 1AA Playoff appearance last year, is ranked #17 in 1AA preseason poll, returns 2 First Team 1AA All Americans (RB Arlee Whitlock and Return Specialist Craig Turner) along with 4 offensive lineman including 3rd team 1AA All American Will Justice. SIU will play Indiana on 9/9.

Given that Indiana is considered by almost everyone to be #10 or #11 in the Big 10, returns 7 O and 6D starters (punter and kicker also) but only 1 All Big 10 performer in James Hardy who may not be on the team by the start of the season; SIU can pull the upset here. 04-rock 02-13-banana

Three things:

1) you do realize that EIU and SIU are not in the MAC, right?
2) James Hardy will very much be on IU's team at the start of the season
3) Ball State has a tremendous opportunity for such an upset - IU is not going to be very good, and they have a home night game planned.
Kent State vs. Ohio State at the BCA Classic Nov. 10-11.

Oh, wait... lmfao lmfao lmfao lmfao
I wouldn't be surprised that Kent State beats Minnesota. How many running backs haven't gone to the NFL or been suspended for that game for the goofers. Minnesota's got a lot of problems. Kent State is at home at nite on espn 360.
You can't say that NIU doesn't have a chance over OSU. If NIU can stay consistent with their offense. NIU has a senior QB and the best RB in the MAC and a defense that isn't half bad.
I like NIU too. Ohio State is over hyped and over rated. They aren't that good. At Iowa and at Texas are both sure losses for the Bucks. They made still win the Big Ten, but they aren't gonna play in the BCS Championship game.

NIU has a shot at OSU, as long as we don't turn the ball over. Can we not give up the big play and is OSU's D going to be able to replace all its departed players will also be a big determiner.
I would love to see NIU over OSU. I would love to see any team over Columbus State! I want them to go defeated.

Good Luck NIU!!

Yes of course I know that; 1AA wins over BCS programs are a good thing for nonBCS 1A conferences. Once a BCS team has scheduled and lost to a 1AA team they are going to be hesitant to schedule more 1AA teams. If you are a fledgling BCS program like Kansas St, Indiana or Cincy would you rather lose to a MAC/WAC or MWC team or a 1AA program?

I believe Akron has a real shot a beating PSU which would be a huge MAC win. PSU returns only 5 O starters and 4 D starters. The starters they return are solid but PSU will be replacing their entire defensive backfield which means that if Getsy gets any kind of time he should exploit them.

Conversly PSU is breaking in a new QB and has only 1 returning Olineman; Akron's veteran defense should be able to hold PSU's offense down. 02-13-banana
Akron has a better chance of beating PSU and WMU has a better shot at beating Indiana than the Huskies have beating the Buckeyes. If Wisconsin's QB doesn't play the opener BG has a real opportunity because while the Badger defense returns 8, their offense was returning only 3 so the loss of a starting QB would be huge for them.

That is strange there isnt' community college football in Ohio considering how passionately people follow the sport. Illinois is and likely will continue to be basketball first, yet there are 4 community college football programs here and 2 of them are among the best in the country.

Wow! A rare Ohioan who is not a Buckeye fan! You must live in peril daily.
