All subjective of course....the thing that really struck me the most was scrolling through the schools (even the less heralded regional privates) and noting that most all of them (save the in state tuition variety choices) are all in excess of $30K per year with R & B included....ouch!

Miami was the top MAC school at #60 among the National University category..other MAC schools include OU at 110, and Buffalo at 120. (The national rankings only go to #125)

Not sure where all the other MAC schools finished up....among our departed members, Marshall was in a category called "non national" University (not sure what that means....maybe it's much more regional in terms of attracting students), and UCF was tier 4 (lowest tier I think).
Miami, Ohio and Buffalo are known all over the world. A former Liberia president had a degree from Ohio University. Ohio and Miami have been around for a long time, so they have name recognition that goes back for a long time.
Very subjective.

Interesting to note that your graduation rate is worth less points than the amount of money your alumni donate.

Many institutions they rate in the bottom two tiers do not provide all of the requested information to USNWR. They buy the data from various sources (including the Chronicle of Higher Education) which can be two years old or more. The institution I worked at in North Carolina never submitted the USNWR information requests because we were a young institution (40 years old at the time) and our alums were still out there working and just getting ready to retire. When they told us they could get the information by buying it, we told them to go ahead and do so. We never completed another one.

For 99% of the high school seniors out there, they would be better off taking the $5 they would spend on this magazine and heading over to McDonalds and getting a Big Mac Extra Value Meal.

Damn! You can still get a Big Mac value meal for $5 dollars out there? I think it is about $5.50 here in CT. Of course minimum wage here is nearly $8.00 and I think many of the fast food places pay over $10.00 an hour.

It's only something like $3.80 in Toledo, but I am sure that is because of all the crime in that godforsaken city. ;-)

Charge any more and you're likely to face a "flurry of chubby fists".
