That's not much of an endorsement of McDougal. A "decent chance" of not flunking out of summer school? How many kids say "I got a decent chance at a D-minus this quarter!!!!!!" lmfao
Toledo like all MAC schools has minimum GPA standards and whatever Scooter needs it's at least a C and probably in a difficult class as players often take the easier ones during the fall term when they have limited study hours and due to travel and TV (in Toledo's case) are forced to miss classes.

Of course, Scooter, like a fair amount of other players in the MAC and elsewhere, didn't make it to college on his academic skills. He's been on the borderline a couple times and Amstutz has shown he will sit a guy who is minimully eligible.

so get that C+ Mr. Mcdougal and get back to knockin linebackers on their A--
I expect Scooter to play. His professor has been out the last couple of days and they are just waiting for the final test results. His earlier tests in the class were fine, and as long as he didn't bomb the final his grade will be fine and he will be eligible.

As for Ray, don't know if his grades are OK or not but I have a hunch they are OK and he still probably won't be playing because Coach Amstutz is not sure he is ready at this point to tackle something that big in his life. As I have always said, Amstutz really cares about making Ray Williams a better person and he is not going to put him on the field if it will compromise the situation.

Oh, and for the record. To this date, Ray Williams has never been an official member of the football team. That could change at some point, of course.

I immediately thought the same, and I think Coach Amstutz himself wasn't prepared for the media freenzy. It's probably best for Ray and the team not to let this supposed 'story' get out of control.

Last spring all we heard about was the great depth @ Running Back and Ray Williams was mention numerous times as part of that depth.... having been Mr. Football in Ohio. Now you tell us he was NEVER an official member of that team,,,,

Nice try, but the past posts I recall stated that we are deep at running back and would be that much deeper with Williams.

I told you he was not a part of the team back in the Spring too. HuskieDan and a few others kept slamming us about how we are taking in this kid and letting him play football. Eventually, I took it for a ride and started talking him up because it was obvious it was getting under HD's skin. However, look back at my posts and even back in the Spring I kept saying he was not on the roster and I was under the feeling that he probably wouldn't be this fall.

The media has really blown the Ray Williams deal out of proportion, and I can understand why. However, he has never been on the roster and Coach Amstutz has never said that Williams will play. He has said that Williams might be on the team this fall, but has never said he would be for sure.

RF, you forgot to mention that we are still loaded at RB. 02-13-banana
Yes, we are deep at running back with or without Williams.

JR Jalen Pamele
JR Scooter McDougle (3 star and 10th ranked FB in country)
SO Richard Davis
RFR DaJuane Collins (3 star and highly rated RB)
FR Dontae Jones (3 star and highly rated RB)
FR Bruce Frieson

How many MAC schools do you know of that have three running backs that were rated 3 stars when being recruited? Obviously if Ray Williams was added to the list, 4 star recruit, it would look even more impressive. However, it's already looking pretty good. DaJuane Collins had a lot of BCS offers including Maryland, NC State, Minnesota, Purdue, Penn State, and Boston College. Bruce Frieson had 8 offers, 4 were MAC schools with one of them being Akron. Dontae Jones had 4 I-A offers, but no BCS offers. However, he committed to Toledo pretty early and that might have kept some from really looking at him. Jalen Parmele had offers from WMU, CMU, and EMU. Scooter had a couple of BCS offers and a few non-bcs offers.

These kids have come into Toledo with a lot of respect in recruiting.

We all know what Scooter can do when healthy. Jalen Parmele averaged over 4.0 ypc last year despite playing on an injured ankle most of the season. Richard Davis averaged 7.1 ypc last year. DaJuane Collins tore up our #1 defense in practices last year as he was on the scout team. Members of the starting defensive unit have personally told me that Collins is very good and ranon them like no other running back on our roster.

This is a deep and talented running back unit at Toledo.

I applaud Tom Amstutz for making sure that Williams doesn't go to jail.

Didn't Ray Williams participate in some level of spring practice? Yet, he was not part of his team? You and the Toledo coaches need to figure out what you are supposed to write on your Web site.
Next up: Maurice Clarett

He practiced a few days a week.Ray was not on the roster. If he were eligible he's considered a walk-on,not even a preferred walk-on.His grades may be good enough to stay in school, but not enough to take on the additional load of football.Time will tell.Anyway Vandelay says Toledo's QB position is the Rockets' only question, they are loaded everywhere else not just at the RB position. Here's today's Blade article:

He was allowed to practice on Fridays and Saturdays only. However, back then I said it and I am saying it again.......he was not actually on the roster.
