I just read this in the free 'blue ribbon' report on Akron....I'm not quite sure what to say!

"As the Zips returned from Northern Illinois after winning their first MAC Championship in thrilling fashion -- a 36-yard touchdown pass from Luke Getsy to Domenik Hixon with 10 seconds left -- they couldn't wait to display their hard-earned new hardware for their fans to see. The only problem? The football program didn't have a trophy case to put it in. "

Is research and editing really that difficult? I ask seriously. How can you get wrong the fact that the champ game was in Detroit? I mean, in writing the article the journalist probably read / saw Detroit and MAC Champ game 1000 times......

That's funny as heck. 04-bow

I hope fans get behind the Zips this season. It could happen. It seemed like they did a half way decent job of getting people to Detroit. Finally, people realized, the Zips ain't half bad.
I appreciate the post Schadenfreude!

Hopefully when the new offices get put in at the Fieldhouse there will be a trophy room/display there!
How is Nate Robinson doing, I root for Jersey kids to stay home. Mia[Fla] rulled him ineligable as Fr, decided on Rutgers. I tought he help Rutgers out.

lmfao lmfao

That's too funny. With Getsy back at the controls Akron should give Penn State and North Carolina (?) great games out of conference. A win over PSU would send shockwaves around the college football world and let the rest of the nation know how good the MAC is.
Funny, I see Steven Moffett and UCF

;-)

Akron has the same problem afflicting most of the MAC in they can whip up a crowd for a big game but don't have much of a season ticket base to speak of.

Its when you increase that season ticket base that you make a lasting impact on attendance.......for some reason the MAC has never been successful in doing that while many CUSA schools are exploding in sales.

Its already been done before in 2000. It sent Penn St. into 4 years of being in the pooper. And still gain the conference no respect.

MAC teams are going to have to put a few wins like that together this year so that one outstanding game doesn't look like a fluke. The 3 BCS games Toledo has are winnable. BSU can beat Indiana, NIU should beat OSU or Iowa, I believe Akron has a shot at PSU(only 9 total returning starters) and should beat NC St. At every opportunity MAC fans have to reinforce the wins we've had over BCS programs so that our accomplishments aren't lost on the rest of the nation. NIU beat the #2 ACC team in 03. The MAC is 6-10 vs the Big 12 North since 2000 if Toledo beats Kansas & Iowa St and Ohio pulls the upset over Missouri(no reason they can't they've done it to Pitt and KY); the MAC would be 9-10 so far this decade which would be a terrific achievement against a BCS division. If that happens it needs to be shouted so all the nation can hear. 05-mafia 04-rock
Nate Robinson is doing really well. He is eligible to play and healthy, so he should be starting this season. We are looking forward to him being on the field. I have talked to him a few times. He seems really down to earth.

I am excited to watch him make an impact!

I hope they go 11-1 with the only loss coming from my Rockets.
Currently (7/28), the Zips are on the front of the college basketball section as well...
