From Bobkitten Online:

"I've heard it's a "done deal" that one will be built within the next year. As to location, not sure how they could place it next to Peden without destroying the new practice fields. Which, in "their" infinite wisdom, is probably what they'll do.

Maybe the university is going to use funds gleaned from stolen alumni data."

..........................

"When it's built, it will be constructed on the first fairway of the old golf course which just happens to be the practice field closest too Peden. That is fact. As for when, I can't give you a definitive answer on that. The first part is true however."

..........................

"I don't like indoor practice facilities... its football... its cold, its wet, its dirty... I don't want a recruit who wants to play football inside... being cold and wet breeds toughness, having an air conditioned bubble to play in just doesn't seem right to me..."

It's up to the coaches to have some practices out in the cold and the mud to toughen their players, but It is nice to have an indoor practice facility for when weather conditions really aren't conductive to a good practice (thunderstorms, freezing cold, etc.) I'm looking forward to the day NIU gets an indoor practice facility.
I have seen blueprints...this is much closer to fruition than most people know! It will not be one of those "bubble domes", but rather an entirely free stading facility consistent with the rest of the campus architecture. It is supposedly being modeled after the Philadelphia Eagles indoor practice facility.....expect some official announcement within the next 6 months.

Wow- a hard@ss in his own mind. It's a good thing this character is so hard he can make outrageous claims about his recruits. But really, why practice inside when you can go outside in snow storms, rain storms, and hail? So what if you lose players to twisted ankles, broken legs, and torn ACL's? THIS MAN WANTS TOUGH PLAYERS!!

lmfao lmfao lmfao

UCF has an indoor facility and has saved MANY practices from summer and early fall thunderstorms w/ lightning. It is a great thing to have.

They are nice. Sometimes i wonder if NIU would have beat Akron in the MACC had we had an indoor practice facility. While NIU was outside practicing for the MACC in the freezing cold and snow, Akron was inside their indoor practice facility training and practicing for the game. You have to wonder if that gave Akron a slight edge since they only won by 1 point. Not an excuse, just a thought.
We were one of the first in the MAC to have an indoor practice facility and look what it's done for us! 03-no

Yes, but Kent St. has been traditionally bad in football.

Kent State - All Time Football Record

288-461-28

Who else has indoor practice facilities besides Kent St., Akron, and Western Michigan?

Toledo doesn't have one yet, but one is expected to be built in the next few years. Amstutz has been pushing hard for one and a couple of feasibility studies have been done.....one as part of a Savage Hall renovation and one without. I think after the UT/MUO merger is complete on July 1st, things will start to get finalized.

NIU will be looking to have one in a few years as well. It is apart of Phase II and will be expanded upon the AAPC. I would assume after the AAPC is built by August of 2007 that they will begin to fundraise for the indoor practice facility. I'm hoping it has at least the same amount of multi-sport features that Akron has with its indoor practice facility, but more!
Miami is building one, it's a part of the For Love and Honor campaign. It'll be at the northend of Yager Stadium.

Don't forget....Football isn't the only sport that uses an indoor facility.

Kent's all sport trophies speak for themselves....

Wow.......here is the specs on the Eagles facility....

-A 108,000-square-foot facility located on 21.5 acres in South Philadelphia
Houses the Eagles' corporate headquarters, training facility, and a NovaCare Rehabilitation Center

-Three 100-yard, natural-grass practice fields

-One 70-yard indoor practice facility

-The largest (8,000 square feet) and most comprehensive state-of-the-art weight room in the NFL with 125 total pieces of equipment and more than 20,000 pounds of free weights

-An all-digital state-of-the-art auditorium with 189 seats (largest in the NFL)

-A 3,500-square-foot training room equipped with a hydrotherapy room complete with a state-of-the-art therapy pool (the only one of its kind installed at an NFL team's complex), and hot and cold water plunge pools for the rehabilitation of injured players

-A 4,000-square-foot locker room with lockers for 67 players

Regardless of the facilities, the staff still has to recruit and coach up the players. Nothing can take the place of that.

Outstanding and doesn't Temple have access to it as well?

I thought Temple had their own facility....

As to what the Bobcats will build, I'm sure it won't include all of the above.....much of which the Bobcats already have at the stadium.

Thinking about it, the Bobcat indoor facility might include a medical facility as part of the package, and that may be how they finance this one.....as a sports medicine facility.

Yep it sounds nice. Now go look at the AAPC and see how it compares(minus the indoor practice facility-which will come later).
