It seems the general concensus is the Rockets are picked #2 or 3 in the MAC.UT's strengths are its' returning OL,the talent at the running back/wide receiver positions, and a greatly improved defense. It seem the only question about the Rockets is the play of Clint Cochran.I think Clint has shown the ability to be a high percentage passer with the abilty to throw the ball downfield. He's more of a pure pocket passer than Bruce, less of a running threat but will be able to fulfill UT's needs at the QB position.I feel much better where the team is at this point than going into the game at UNLV.Amstutz has said this is Toledo's toughest OOC schedule, which I definitely agree. At Iowa State,it will be the Rocket defense that will be really tested.A good showinh there, win or lose, will be a indicator of how good the Rockets really are.
anyone want to make a guess how much longer john goolsby will be on campus? As soon as Opelt arrives on campus, Goolsby will probably never againsee a meaningful snap.
It takes a while to learn the system.I wouldn't be surprised if Opelt red-shirts this year.
opelt will redshirt, but i have no doubt he will be groomed as the next Rocket QB. Or there will at least be a great showdown between him and brandon summers. heck, i still think that if summers could put his head with his body, he would beat out cochran for the starting job.
Becoming the starter seems to raise a qb's game to a new level and the entire team reacts to his leadership. That's why having a two-quarterback system never works. From what I've seen so far, Cachran will be the starter as long as the team responds well to him.

We also figured this out at work with projects. Having too many cooks dillutes the role. Having a lead person and a backup (sub) works best as the leader shows dominance and leadership while the backup is the student and replacement if the lead fails (with full intentions of what's expected). We also figured out that there are conditions where we'd have extras to the lead/backup if the project was so designed/planned.

Sounds like UT needs a single lead, and multiple backup/extras :)
Wasn't Goolsby the greyshirt from 2 years ago?
Is he competing for playing time now and where does he appear on the depth chart?
I thought getting him was a big deal.

Goolsby has some size. I wonder if he would be oppossed to a change in position if it looks like his opportunities at QB are limited?
