One of her most favored decisions admired by detractors and supporters alike including Novak himself was to stay begind JoeN when the first five seasons were in toilet and many were questioning his abilities to truly lead Huskies outta the wasteland to the promised land.
The kwik hook would have been the action most commonly chosen by most ADs.
Carrie's first choice was Tressel, but he was going through a messy divorce and did not want to leave YSU. Joe was her #2 pick.
Now doesn't that make for an interesting subplot on Sept 2.

Very interesting, I wasn't aware of that. Good think he didn't accept because whenever OSU would have offered him their HC position he would have left NIU high and dry no doubt about it.
Iowa would have to offer Yow quite a bit to get her away from MD. Baltimore is a huge market and Wash DC is a stones throw away. Maryland is the only 1A all sport program in one of the fastest growing states in the northeast/midwest; while Iowa is slow growing backwater of a state. MD has won numerous titles in both men's and women's sports and is part of a conference that is on a major rise especially in football with the addition of 3 high profile ex BE programs.
Groth on the other hand would jump at the opportunity. Her hire IMO could help cement a relationship between Iowa & NIU which can only help the Huskies.
