What does everyone think?
What a stupidly constructed self serving poll. Why list only two teams?

This poll would be just as meaningful.

What? Toledo? Miami? That's it? 01-wingedeagle What sport are you talking about? Let us know when you get a real poll up there.
Are you kidding me?? So I guess we played the 06 season already and the teams have been decided. I hope you just jinxed your team.
I'm surprised at the serious comments about Roudebush's humor. Doesn't anyone know him yet?

It would help if it was funny. Based on what I know of Toledo fans' arrogance, I thought he was being serious. I guess I should have understood when he included 2 teams. I would have expected one choice-Toledo.

I think. Therefore, I am.

Everybody who is new here, please raise your hand.

lmfao
What's wrong with the poll question? It's nothing but factual... 05-stirthepot

I picked other, hopefully Temple can successfully get that championship I predicted! ;-)

While the NIU fans really, REALLY get on my nerves...
I am getting pretty fed up by just how arrogant my fellow Rocket fans have sounded on these boards especially over the last month. We lose our staryting QB and tailback. On Defense 4 out of 5 of our best players graduated leaving yet unsettled question marks.
This attitude is unwarranted until the new guys get it done on the field.
Toledo will have their chance to crow if or when we win some games in the early OOC schedule.

Countdown to long, detailed response about the amazing athletes filling those gaps and the incredible depth of the Rocket roster .... 3 ... 2 ... 1 ...

I don't think we lost as much on defense as you think. We did lose our #1, #3, and #4 tacklers so I could understand saying 3 of the 4 best. Tyrrell Herbert was 2nd on the team with 94 tackles and he returns. He led the team with 5 forced fumbles. We had 13 forced fumbles as a team last year, and players that represented 9 of those forced fumbles return.

We had 31 sacks last year. Players that represented 26.5 of those sacks return again this year. We had 79 tackles for loss. Players that represent 60 of those tackles for loss return again this year.

I really don't think our losses on defense are as bad as you make it sound. The key will be replacing Anthony Jordan and David Thomas at ILB and with Steven Morrison moving over from OLB we really have one of those positions to fill with someone new.

A very big concern on offense is Bruce Gradkowski being gone though. You just never know what is going to happen with a new QB.

Personally I don't think that we have anything to be arrogant about, and I have noticed an increase an arrogance lately. However, most schools have positions to replace every year as well. Also, this is what happens on a message board in the offseason.

I know I have argued that Toledo has the best depth at running back in the MAC. Some might think I am arrogant by saying that, but I haven't said that Toledo is going to win the West or the MAC this fall........at least not without joking around with someone and making it clear I was joking.

Calm down, Judith. It was a joke but if I was arrogant, I would have listed Toledo and Other.

Anyway, all joking aside, you guys can still discuss who you will think will win the MAC and why. In an effort to be a little more accommodating, I will try to add other teams to this poll. Anyway, if you think you have an argument as to why another team will win it, go ahead and explain it.

Edit: actually, it looks like I can't add more teams to the poll. Regardless, that doesn't matter; explain who you think will win it.

FWIW, these are the teams that I would have added to the list:

1. NIU
2. BG
3. WMU
4. CMU
5. Akron

The rest could be covered with "other" I believe.
I'd add Akron to that "other" list ;-) 05-stirthepot
You know what would be really cool is if we could do a poll to vote for MAC Champion, but you couldn't vote for the school you are a fan of. I know there really isn't any way to do this because people would cheat and just vote for their favorite school, but if it was possibly I think that would be cool. It would be a way to more fairly see what everyone in the MAC thinks.

Perhaps we can do a running total in this thread. Give a vote for MAC Champion (knowing you can't vote for your school) and let's see how it adds up. I'll start:

Northern Illinois

Miami. That is a team that impresses me year in and year out.

Bob thinks that the Wheaties Bowl favors Ohio Teams!
