The MAC has more bowl games and its time for the league to aim for bigger and better things.

I propose the following.......

1. Every Division 1-A conference should have an automatic bid to the BCS for its champion.

2. Every BCS conference at a minimum must have 10 universities.

3. With the added BCS bowls, that would preclude a top 20 ranking to be elgible for one of them as an at-large team.

Here is how it could play out

Big East (Orange Bowl vs. ACC)
WVU, Pitt. Louisville, UC, UConn, Rutgers, USF, Syracuse, *UCF, *ECU

Mountain West (Sun Bowl vs. at-large)
SDSU, UNLV, New Mexico, Colorado St, Utah, BYU, Wyoming, Air Force, TCU, *UTEP

CUSA (Liberty Bowl vs. at-large)
Houston, Rice, SMU, Tulsa, Tulane, USM, Memphis, UAB, Marshall, *WKU, *MTSU, *Troy St

WAC (Hawaii Bowl vs. at-large)
Hawaii, Fresno, Boise St, Nevada, Idaho, Utah St, New Mexico St, San Jose St, La Tech, *North Texas

MAC (Motor City vs. at large)
Northern Ill., Ball St, WMU, CMU, EMU, Toledo, BGSU, Miami, Ohio, Kent, Akron, Buffalo, Temple, *UMass

The Stuck Belt wouldn't have enough teams left for a BCS bowl.

I propose you STFU about your stupid proposals.

Are you out of your farking mind? Under your idea, if the Sun Belt manages to pull two more teams out of I-AA, they get an automatic BCS bowl berth.
Since when is the number of teams in a conference a way to measure how good it is?

I was with you until number 3, then it just went downhill

Leave the Sun Belt alone. We get pissed off when other "bigger" conferences like that talk like that about us, we probably shouldn't do it to anyone else.
I propose Bowling Green wins the Rose Bowl.

Okay.

I'm just of the opinion that to be a BCS conference you should have 10 schools at least.

If the PAC-10, SEC, BigXII, BigTen, and ACC all have 10 or more members as BCS conferences, I think the Big East should have at least that many schools.

Furthermore, the BCS gods in 1997 made an arbitrary decision of who was going to be in as a BCS conference and who was going to be left out.

If you look at the 10-15 years before the BCS........the WAC was probably as accomplished as what the Big East was outside of Miami Fl, and the WAC had 16 schools to the Big East's 8.......yet the Big East received the automatic bid.

Why don't the BCS god's just pass judgement again and let the MWC, MAC, WAC, and CUSA in the club and end this have vs. have not segragation of Division 1-A?

The MAC's Motor City
CUSA's Liberty
The MWC's Sun Bowl (UTEP to MWC)
The WAC's Hawaii

The top bowls for those conferences to a degree can meet the expectations of a BCS bowl.......55k for Akron vs. Memphis in the MCB.....imagine if instead it was Akron vs. 9-3 Penn State.

I could honeslty see the MCB as a BCS caliber game.

The Sun Belt isn't strong enough for a BCS game but the other conferences to at least a good degree are.

I'm here to try and take us to the next level.

Years ago when the MAC had 1 bowl game, I was thought a looney for demanding 3 or 4 bowl bids.

Now the MAC has the bowl bids and its time to start looking at trying to secure a real seat at the BCS table.......simply an auto bid to the BCS is the only place the MAC can elevate to that would be substantially better then where we will be for next season.

As the only non BCS conference to play in a January Bowl game and a BCS automatic with top 16 ranking........how much further can we go up?

;-)
If the MAC can have the kind of success in Toronto as in Detroit, you have to think that BCS is around the corner. I would also try to add a International Bowl basketball Classic in Toronto as well to get more MAC and BE fans up their that week. Have a MAC/BE challage in hoops that week in Toronto with Syracuse/Buffalo, Kent State/Pitt, Miami/UC WV/Ohio Louisville/Ball State(cardinal cup game), Toledo/USF, NIU/UConn(huskie cup game) Temple/Rutgers.

This was part of the last page from Dr. King's I have a Dream Speech that never made it into the original.

The Motor City Bowl is not going to be in the BCS in the near future, but who would have thought a MAC school ranked #16 or higher would have an automatic bid to the Rose, Fiesta, Orange, or Sugar Bowl 10 years ago when we had absolutely no access to those games in the history of the conference.

1996........
1.Las Vegas Bowl (vs. Big West)

2006..........
1.BCS (Top 16 finish)
2.Motor City Bowl (vs. Big Ten)
3.International Bowl (vs. Big East)
4.GMAC Bowl (vs. CUSA)
5.Birmingham Bowl (vs. CUSA/Big East)

So what is not to say that in 5-10 more years, there isn't a movement to upgrade the MCB to BCS status and as a potential site for a national championship game.

The MAC will never have an automatic bid to the Rose Bowl every year opposite of the Big Ten or PAC-10......and the MCB will never have the prestige of the Rose Bowl.......but why can't it be another Fiesta Bowl after being played for 15 to 20 years (currently year 11)?

He isn't talking about the Bowl game becoming a BCS game. He is talking about the teams getting better and competing at high levels and the fact that they CAN draw fans to bowl games.
