Not many of us will ever forget September 20, 2003, when NIU beat Alabama, UT beat Pitt, Marshall beat KSU and BG took OSU to the last drive....

Could September 2, 2006 be the next great day in MAC football?

NIU at OSU, while few expect NIU to win, they will keep it close and a win is not out of the realm of possibility.

WI at BG. Can BG avenge last seasons loss? Wisc. first year without Alvarez, no Omar for BG.

Toledo at ISU. Toledo seems to always find a QB so no worries here, this should be a win for the MAC.

Akron @ PSU. This game can be trouble for PSU who graduated a ton of starters from 2005.

WMU @ Indiana. WMU better win this game!!!

The MAC could easily go 3-2 here with an outside chance at 4-1.

Alos the previous Thurseday has MU at Northwestern, CMU at Boston College, both winnable games for the MAC.

The MAC need some big OOC wins this year and September 2, sees to be the best schedule.
Actually it's Northwestern at Miami. Should be a good game.
Pre-season hopes always get the best of us here.

I realistically see us going 1-4.

I agree. We will beat OSU but I don't see anyone else winning. ;-)
I see 1-4 being the most likely outcome but it wouldn't surprise me to see us go 2-3 in those games.
yeah i see 1-4 too. toledo will win; all others will lose. i see miami beating northwestern but cmu will lose to bc.
I saw Kokal (Miami QB) play against Buffalo last year when the score was like 48 to 3. He is smaller than Miami's previous QB's. I wasn't all that impressed by his throwing or decision making, but they say he is a good runner. I haven't seen Elliott play and he has been hurt a lot, but they say he has a good arm. I saw Radabaugh play in person in high school down here in Texas. He has a very strong arm and is very mobile, but was not consistent. Serious questions for Miami at QB. They need somebody to get their act together there.

Another interest we should have are some of the games between the better 1AA programs and lesser BCS teams.

9/2
EIU (8-0 in the OVC last year) vs Illinois (0-8 in the Big 10).
Illinois St (7-4 including an 11 pt loss to bowl team Iowa St) vs Kansas State projected by many to be the worst in the Big 12
9/9 SIU (top 8 rated 1AA team last year) vs Indiana

IMO all we need are two or three 1AA teams beating BCS teams for BCS teams to stop playing 1AA teams that have any chance of beating them in OOconference games. Losing to a non BCS team is less embarassing to a BCS team than losing to a 1AA team.

Out of those listed, I see the MAC winning maybe 2 of those games, possibly three if Penn. St. doesn't show up for the game.

Boston College will be playing at Mt. Pleasant. Here's hoping for an upset! :shhh:

Don't worry about it. UB will take care of Auburn and Wisconsin this fall to regain some MAC pride. I can see them maybe losing a squeaker to Boston College. 04-cheers
I simply don't see BG beating Wisconsin. Granted, Wisconsin will not have a running back that game (literally!), but with new QB, receiving corp, and several O-Lineman, it's going to take a while for the offense to click.

UT should win, Miami has a good shot depending on how their team gels, and WMU has a pretty decent shot at Indiana. Most of this is based on gut instinct, so don't ask for reasoning. It's too freaking early in the year for solid prognosticating.

I'll take three wins for the week of the 2nd.

I cant see Toledo winning, not without a QB.

That's the great part. Toledo has decided to go ahead and use a QB in that game!

I hope we remember to bring our running backs when we go to tOSU, and hopefully they remember how to hold on to the friggin ball. lmfao
