I'm a UCF fan and I was wondering if any of you knew anything about Chris Carr. He's a quarterback that transfered from NIU to UCF last year. This year he's eligible to play, and I was wondering if anyone knew why he transfered and any other info about him. Thanks in advance.
I'm not exactly sure why he transferred. I can honestly say i've never heard of the kid until you brought him up, and that could have been the problem. It looks like he is from Florida. Maybe he knew that he wouldn't be seeing the starting quarterback spot and wanted to be closer to home. I'm not sure. I can say a couple things though. He came in with a quarterback, Britt Davis, who was one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks in the nation. He also came in with Dan Nicholson. One of our quarterbacks who served the starting role after Phil Horvath broke his arm. Dan Nicholson went into the second quarter of the game and dominated. He threw for over 300 yards in his first collegiate game. He then proceeded to lead NIU to 2 wins against Toledo and Western Michigan. I don't know how good Chris Carr is or what his abilities are, but we are really set here at NIU with two very good and experienced quarterbacks. Horvath was the #5 quarterback in the nation (over 70% completions) and Dan Nicholson went 2-0 in his first two starts while completing over 62% of his passes.
Also, if you wanted more answers from NIU fans you really should have posted this in the NIU portion of the MAC forum. Not in the MAC Talk section.
Alright, thanks for the info epasnoopy
He was a grayshirt recruit for us in 2003. I believe his first fall (2004) with us, he worked his way up to second string. Then mysteriously he was off the team. There were many rumours as to why, but without knowing the facts, it would not be fair to state them here. Wish him nothing but the best.

What's a grayshirt? A medical redshirt? Because on our site it says he is a RS freshman which didn't make sense to me, I thought he would be a RS sophomore. Anyway he's getting some reps in spring practice. I think he'll make a decent backup quarterback, he'll probably be around 4th string though as we have some other talented qbs.
Grayshirt is that he deferred is admission to NIU until the spring. Most likely because NIU didn't have a schollie in the fall. By deferring to the spring he would retained his eligiblity for the extra year. Question, was Carr enrolled at UCF last year, or did he take a year off from school.

I'm pretty sure he was enrolled, I just know he's eligible now.
