Do you catch the last installment during the NIT Finals?

YSU's "moment" was coming from behind to beat Kent State.

Discuss.
Thats a honor for a program when another program uses your game as its pride of the program. Kent State was elite 8 that year, so I can see how YSU would be proud of that win. YSU hasn't been very good in the Horizon league. MAC east is like the Big East to YSU.
Buffalo also beat Kent in the Elite 8 year. It was Kent's last loss before Indiana. Buffalo only had 5 wins the entire year (soph Turner Battle missed the last half of the year with an injury).

I remember thinking after that game that Gates & Co. were overrated. :withstupid:

Ahhh, what a great game to be at!

Uh, you guys were 7-11 in the MAC, 12-18 overall. You wern't that bad, finishing ahead of Akron in the East.
YSU, on the other hand, was 3-23 vs. D-1, and the win over KSU was their only non-conference win that season.
That YSU game was a blessing in disguise that year and the wake-up call the team needed to realize that Gary Waters was gone and that it was time to quit feeling sorry for yourself and listen to your new coach.

Never a big believer in learning from losing but i think that the YSU game helped wake us up and propel us to the season of a lifetime. I distinctly remember driving back from YSU with my father in law thinking "Well its been a good 3 yr run and i guess were back to mediocrity". Who would have known what was ahead and heck 5 years later we're still on top. Its been and unbelievable 8 years.

I still believe that loss is what kept BG out of the NCAA tournament.

That's a criticism of the committee, not KSU or YSU.

Uh...BUGS didn't get a bid because it had an RPI of 58, only 1 win vs. the RPI Top 50, and because it failed to beat Kent in three chances.

That's a dumb*** post. As I indicated, the committee can always find some reason to keep a team out. Two teams that BGSU beat made it in.

BG deserved to be in, but not for that reason.

UNC Wilmington made it in by virtue of winning the CAA Tournament. You think the committee should have taken BUGS instead? 01-wingedeagle

Mississippi had 3 Top 15 RPI wins. You beat them in the season opener. Your RPI that year was too high for an at-large, and your OOC schedule too weak. BUGS didn't deserve to go.

Maybe, just maybe, someday you'll get to experience an NCAA tournament game featuring your squad, Torch. Not anytime soon though... lmfao lmfao lmfao
