... about Albany?

The Great Danes are whipping Vermont right now in the America East championship.

I always thought Albany would be a pretty cool add to the MAC.
I'm not feeling any SUNY pride if thats what your asking. If Albany wins, I look forward to seeing them getting utterly destroyed by either Duke, UConn, Nova or Memphis or another 1 seed.

The america east is a joke for basketball, even central and eastern would of been competetive this year
Albany has to be one of the worst sports towns in NY. They need not apply to the MAC

It sucks. They haven't suffered nearly enough. There should be some kind of rule that says you have to endure at least ten losing seasons before you can make the NCAA tournament.

Why would you want Smallbany in the MAC? Their football team plays in the dregs of I-AA and they only won the AEC because Vermont is way down and Northeastern left the conference. The MAC should be trying to attract a Missouri Valley/Gateway team.

One positive about this...ESPN has been listing little factoids about the obscure schools who have made the tournament. Every one I've seen has included a list of famous alumni...that is, every one but Smallbany. I guess they don't have any. Not surprising because the only people who go to Smallbany are those who can't get into UB.
I guess I figured having another SUNY in the MAC would make life more fun for Buffalo.

Albany/Schenectady/Troy is a decent-sized market, something we don't have enough of in our league. And it would fit well with an all-sports Temple entry and perhaps make (my dream of) the entry of Massachusetts a bit more sensible.

But, you know, if Buffalo is just too good to be seen with the likes of Albany, Binghamton or Stony Brook...

03-melodramatic

... then the heck with it.

should UB fans really be ripping another schools football?
And, "Great Danes?"

That's hot. That makes "Zips" and "Golden Flashes" seem pedestrian.

As bad as UB's football program is, it's light years ahead of Smallbany's. They play in the Northeast Conference, which is the Sun Belt of I-AA.
I'm dissapointed UB wasn't te first SUNY school in the NCAA...but the i remember Albany is int eh AmEast, which has 3 other SUNY schools that no one cares about...and I feel much better. UAlbany may have made the NCAA, but just by being in the MAC and with the success over the last 3 years, we've still achieved more IMO.
I really can't see any of the other SUNY schools in the MAC, Stoney Brook could bring very some sparse NY Metro media coverage. UB seems like they're the only ones willing to fund 1-A athletics and they're not exactly doing that so well compared to most of the MAC.
