Milwaukee - the Beer Bowl

Now THAT would be a success. 05-stirthepot

Who in their right mind would ever think that Chryst would not want another bowl game?

I think he does. The problem is he and his staff are incompetant and have no power to get anything done. I guess the MAC/BT deal may be a success if we see BT teams to occasionally come to MAC stadiums(not just nearby pro stadiums).

The Toronto Bowl concept is idiotic. Let's hope if officially dies in the next few weeks. The MAC deserves a much better third bowl situation. Playing in front of 3,500 people at Toronto's Skydome will do more to hurt the image of the MAC then help.

I can't imagine Wisconsin folks having any interest whatsoever in a bowl game featuring a MAC team every year. At least Detroit is in the heart of MAC country and Mobile is a warm weather destination in December. Milwaukee is not exactly an enticing December vacation and party spot. Now, Madison is June, that's another story... ;-)

I catch a couple baseball games at Miller Park in Milwaukee each year. I seriously doubt that the playing surface at baseball-only Miller Park can be adapted to host a football game. Even if Miller Park were a viable venue, I seriously doubt many folks would trek to Beer Town to catch the 3rd best MAC team go up against the 6th or 7th best Big 10 team (unless of course it was Wisconsin).

04-bs You know as well as I do that it exists. You just don't see it because you benefit from the MAC's moves.

Okay then...prove it!

And don't say the 2004 GMAC Bowl. They wanted Omar and didn't care about our home attendance, alumni travel, or anything else. PERIOD! So get over it!
How about the 2005 GMAC bowl?

03-idea Maybe we can have the game at your stadium. It is almost brand new since no one ever uses it. I am sure there is a lot more to do in terms of a party spot in Kent Ohio than Milwaukee too. lmfao lmfao

Yeah. The first time we should have beat them and the second time we only lost by 1. Considering we beat Toledo by more than twice the score, and you guys barely beat BGSU when they also lost to Akron it really doesn't show much for you guys either. Seriously though, Memphis was a tougher opponent for Akron than UTEP. That Palmer kid is nowhere near as good as his older brother Carson Palmer, and UTEP didn't have a rb that was anywhere near as good as DeAngelo Williams who will be a first round pick.

Was Akron not the MAC Champs?

We lost to Akron twice, but Toledo lost to a team that lost to Akron twice.

Toledo twice beat our common opponents who beat Akron.

Screw common opponents - head to head, at your house, we doubled you up. That's really all we need to know.

Milwaukee is only 90 miles from Chicago, NIU fans and MAC alums that live in Chicago(there are likely thousands) would have a very convenient venue and Milwaukee has indoor waterparks and an atractive lakefront. NIU has 22 Wisconsin players on the roster and an alumni presence in WI.

This likely won't happen but Milwaukee does have some pluses.

If you're a MN or IA fan, would U have an easier trip to Milwaukee for a bowl or Nashville & Florida where these 2 teams have played the last 2 years. Milwaukee is a convenient drive for many Big 10 fans.

Okay, head to head Toledo has won 11 out of the last 12 times we played. The last time you beat Toledo prior to this season was 1989. That's a llllloooonnnnggg time ago.
and it was BSU that beat both Akron and NIU, funny how those calculations figured out though.

As far as the ohio bias, mcleod of BG vs T smith for POTY with mcleod a runaway winner when t smith had better stats in every catagory aside from freethrow attempts and freethrows made, because of said attempts.

LOL, that was a while back, just throwing some gasoline on the fire, all in good fun

Troy Smith was a monster talent for BSU, imo.
Central Michigan's OOC games below

Boston College (home, Aug. 31 on ESPN2)
Michigan (away, Sept. 9)
Kentucky (away,Sept. 30)
Temple (away, Oct. date TBA)

Ohio - will go to Illinois

No news on BG's other OOC game but I was told it was a IA team

No 12th game yet for Akron, so far the I-AAs want $250K and the Zips will not pay that amount

No news on a 3rd MAC bowl game for 2006 however I do know there are several moving parts in the works - there is a chance that MAC fans will be very excitied if it works out next month for the bowl certification meeting in late April
