or should they just blame it on Jeremiah Wood's slow rehabilitation and Bubba Walthers disruptance? Not trying to be hard on Zip fans, but just want to see it from their point of view...as well as other MAC fans. Please no flaming....Thank you.

Akron finished 14-4 in the MAC...Im a little confused by what you are talking about.
I think Akron was hoping for a run at an at-large. Every MAC team missed that goal, but Akron is in a good position to win the MAC tournament.
We got our first 20-win season in since the Huggins era, broke a seven game streak to our rival. I don't think any Akron fan feels this season is a disappointment.
I think the only team that really didn't meet expectations in the East was OU, fairly or unfairly. And this is still with the MAC Tournament to play. Most people had Akron picked 2nd, and they finished 2nd though most everyone had them behind OU. They were one late road slip-up from a share of the title. Even if they don't win the tournament, making the NIT and maybe winning a game would be a good step for a team who hasn't been to the postseason in a while.
Ohio had the same record 17-10 as last year and 10-8 in MAC just a game behind last years 11-7 record. Difference is the blowout losses to Kent State and Miami. That really is the source of the disappointment with this team. Today, Ohio looked like the team that was preseason #1. They destroyed BGSU in every way. 85-48. 37 point margin is biggest of the season. An offensive explosion for Ohio. Bobcats brought their A game today and BGSU had no chance.

Akron was on fire today in the second half. A hard fought game. It looked for a while like Kent was gonna win this one, but Akron got rolling in this one.

Miami handled UB at home. and Northern got an impressive road win. I think its gonna be a good tournament as all top seeds looks good today.
Ohio was 12-6 in the MAC last year, not 11-7.

Akron a failure? Have you seen the Bobcats? Barring us going out and winning at least two games in the tournament, this season will have been a failure.

A win over Miami in the quarterfinals would erase all the bad taste in our mouth, however.
OU was 11-7 as were five other teams. Miami was the only 12-6 team. Just as in the thread about OU's "painful" season, it depends on your expectations. OU did not have a horrible season but certainly what many fans were hoping or expecting. The notion that Akron fans should be disappointed is completely wrong.
Expectations - Akron?? oxymoron
Man, I feel old when I can't remember what our MAC record was last year... ;-)

And I feel stupid when I correct someone about it, and then I'm wrong.
O'Shea has compiled MAC records of:
11-7, 8-10, 7-11,11-7,10-8: 47-43 regular season
0-1,2-1,0-1,4-0: 6-3 tournament record
6-3,4-5,3-8, 6-3,7-2: 25-25 non-conference record
17-11,14-16,10-20,21-10,17-10:79-68 overall record

O'Shea has been a far better performer in the MAC tournament.
As an Akron fan I can't be really disappointed at all with this season. 21 regular season wins, UNDEFEATED IN OUR HOUSE, a good sead in the tournament and finishing off the season with a big win against our degenerate cousins down the road. Only things that could have made me happier with this season would have been if Wood would have gotten his head out of his butt and rehabed and if we would have gone 2-0 vs. Kent. I'm of the impression that unless a MAC team wins 27-28 regular season games they won't even get an at-large consideration and there just isn't a team in the conference that is capable of that right now so not being faced with that opportunity doesn't really bother me. And, hey, we still have the tourney to look forward too.
I am in no way an Akron fan, God knows! In fact, I'm quite the opposite. Still, I am struggling to understand the reason for this thread. How could anyone be disappointed with a 21-win season (and probably more wins inext week), a #3 seed with the bye in the tournament, and a real chance of a post-season appearance for the first time in over a decade. I'm thinking most of the Zips' real fans would have no reason to be disappointed in this season. I'm still wondering why anyone would even think it to begin with.

Think in terms of someone needing to be told their team is great and exceeded all expectations. That will help.

exceeded all expectations. That will help.
But we didn't exceed expectations. We were picked to finish 2nd in the MAC East in most publications, and that's where we finished.

And since you seem to fancy yourself an amateur pyschologist, judging from the amount of posts you make about the Zip fan's psyche (I'm expecting any day now a 2,000 page dissertation by Flash fans on these boards entitled Why do Akron fans obsess about us so much?) if a thread originally about Akron becomes mostly about OU (as this one has) over the objections of nobody, and you are still seeing some sort of praise-fishing going on here that's invisible to everybody else, you are "projecting." Might want to stop doing that before you open up your private practice.
