The UALR men's track team has been lauded by the U.S. Track Coaches Association for having one of the highest team GPAs in the country.

In the 2003-04 academic year, the Trojans recorded a 3.05 grade point average, the ninth-best GPA in the country. Detroit-Mercy led the nation with a 3.32 GPA.

This recognition continues a trend of academic success in UALR's track, field and cross country programs. Most recently, Petra Forsberg, a former UALR runner who graduated in May, was named third-team Academic All-America. Also, the combined track and cross country teams received both the men's and women's 2002-03 Team Academic Award from the Sun Belt Conference for overall grade point average. This recognition is in addition to the men's and women's cross country and track and field teams, individually, being named All-Academic by their respective national coaching organizations in 2002. The previous year, the UALR women's cross country team was named All-Academic with Distinction with a team GPA of 3.43.

The men's and women's track teams were named All-Academic by the U.S. Track Coaches Association in 2003;

And 10 track, field and cross country athletes were named to the 2003-04 Sun Belt Conference Commissioner's List for earning a GPA between 3.5 and 4.0, and seven additional runners were named to the conference Academic Honor Roll for achieving a GPA between 3.0 and 3.49.
