Kinda interesting to consider JakeD from LALayafette & SteveS from Utah were Bear killers.

Here is another - Brad Maynard of Bears - Ball State -

---
Little doubt these & other observations below have already been dissected.

Why DID Bears forego running game from the get go? It's what got them to the dance. Did Turner outsmart himself by having Grossman open with throwing deep too many series & too often?

Was one key to Carolina's success on O the change to short drops/quick passes ?

Finally, was Bear D distracted by Carolina cheerleaders? How often did Bears mix /disguise coverages for Smith? How much crow was served in locker rm afterwards?

BTW: Berrian is from Fresno - another nonBCS talent in NFL. It would be interesting to look at all NFL rosters and learn what % is from BCS/nonBCS programs and what % of NCAA D1 & d1aa comprise the 117 programs.
The Bears doom was they refused to bump Smith at the line with Peanut, then play over the top cover 2 help coverage to avoid the big play. Instead they played 1 on 1 and in between coverage, seeming too concerned with the run. The defense was the teams doom, you can't lose when scoring 21 points.

Peanut is another non-BCS player.
Why did Bears NOT make a Defensive adjustment after half defending SSmith since it was not workin well? Were there no other reasonable options worth risking with DFoster out?

Difference between game 1 and 2 was Bears sacking or hurrying JakeD in #1 while Panthers game planned/schemed to protect better & get rid of the ball quickly in 2.
