Remember last year when everyone was giving me a hard time about me not liking Joplin and how much i wanted him fired. Anyone on my side yet? Its a new year same story. Toledo Basketball sucks and it starts with the head coach. we need to cut out loses and start with a new coach a new attitude and a new team. Hopes for a better season in 06-07 will come with a new coach...!
Joplin shouldn't be fired until the end of the year. What happens if he pulls off a big run into the MAC Tournament or even wins the Tourny? You can't just call for the head of a coach and not have a suitable replacement in mind!
I was in total agreement. Should have ponied up and got rid of him. This is a lame duck coach in a walkout year. Nothing good ever comes from this situation. Someone else should have been brought in to take the reigns of the program.
they are 1-4 in the MAC....They play Ohio this week so most likely they will be in last place....anyone but Joplin will be a improvement!
Toledo usually plays horrible on the road and great at home. UT may pull the OU game out!
forgot to say that EMU, CMU and Ball St. have worse records than UT...so UT won't be in last place in the MAC

I'm always mad about a football loss and I DO think Joplin should be canned but you got to have someone come in that can recruit well and turn the program around from what's been happening recently. What's the name(s) of someone that can do this?!?!
I dont know, i dont get paid the big bucks to know who is good or not, but his record shows that he is not a good coach, you think that Amstutz would still be the head coach if he had never made a MAC championship game? Hell no cause the sports department cares about football a hell of alot more then bball you can tell by their half ass attempt at a coach for the last 9 years in Joplin.
The difference is that we win in Football. We win the MAC. We win Bowl games. Also, in Football, we run actual plays. We don't play streetball. In basketball, we just stand around while the point guards try to do something. The Big men don't take over like they should! Joplin is a nice guy, but he needs to go!

As of right now I am with you titan. This game was absolutely disgusting! There is no reason we should have lost to this BG team. We have 20 times more talent on our roster than BG does, but we have no fundaments and poor coaching. When we started to catch up to BG in the first half we did it with Pinson, Sammy and Amos. Why not stick with the guys who were playing good? We lost this game because our player rotation was a joke, and we missed too many free throws. Both of those things are credited to coaching. When you lose to your rival who has half of the talent you do something needs to happen.

Our school hasn’t exactly shown that they are willing to put any money into athletics, so we wouldn’t pay him if he wanted to come here any ways.
There is one hell of a difference between "willing" and "able". The athletic budget is nothing more than a reflection of the budget of the entire university. Frankly, we're fortunate to be doing as well as we are with the resources we've lacked for so long.
I realize that, but we are not the only school in Ohio with financial problems right now. That has not stopped OU or Akron from sinking money into their athletic departments. One of the ways schools increase enrolment and financial stability is by having excellent athletic departments to create a buzz about their academic institution. We do not promote anything athletically or academically like other schools do. Just look at the BG billboards surrounding our campus, and our crappy looking power point commercials on TV. I have observed multiple facts and figures on this board and other places that show UT having the most athletic revenue in the MAC, but still having one of the smallest athletic budgets in the conference. That tells me as a fan of UT athletics, and as a student that the school does not think it is necessary to view athletics as a priority.
If the school felt it was important to improve our facilities, coaching staffs and our overall athletic department they would.
Those power point commericals???? Thats what the University said they wanted and so I did IT. I have no control over what the board wants as their commerical. I have a couple of other ones that are a lot better than that.
