Uh, a coach will say anything to cover up a bad loss...nothing new here. 03-yawn

Ball State has lost to teams like Ohio, Indiana, Akron, Drexel, Indiana State, and Butler. Kent State is no way even in the top three of those teams. Sorry Buckley, not buying it.
:secret:
Maybe it's Ohio who is not in the top three. Except to Ohio fans.

Go ahead and believe that if it makes you feel better.

I'm no fan of Buckley's, but I've never known him to blow smoke up the arse of an opponent to "cover up" anything. (There's nothing to "cover up," anyways -- he and every one else who follows Ball State knows he's done minus a MAC title. No amount of talking after a loss is going to save his job, no matter what he says.)

Only Indiana and Butler have controlled the game against us like Kent did last night. And our loss to Butler had a lot to do with not being able to hit the broad side of a barn for the first 25 minutes of the game. We played poorly against Indiana in the second half.

I got the impression that our players weren't too impressed with Ohio, and they feel they let a winnable game slip away. That wasn't the case last night.

Seriously, you new-to-success Bobcat types need to develop thicker skins and a sense of humor in a hurry, or you're going to become Huntington on the Hocking to this board...

First of all, new to success? How about 10 MAC championships in men's basketball alone? I'd hardly call that "new to success."

Second, what Buckley said is nothing more than "coach-speak." Every coach says practically the same thing, especially after a loss. I'm not saying Kent State isn't a good team; of course, KSU is a good team. But, the best? Open for debate. Also, the reason you all thought the Ohio game was winnable is because we started so slowly. Ask Western Michigan's players if they thought the game they played in the Convo last week was "winnable." I imagine you'd get a different response. It's all a matter of relativity.
You have exactly *one* MAC tournament title since the 1993-94 season. Prior to that year, your previous MAC title came way back when the league only had eight teams.

Yeah, I'd call that "new to sucess." Further, your fans' incredibly thin-skinned response to a Ball State coach's compliment of Kent State -- which had nothing to damn well do with you -- screams of new money.
We had several semi-final exits in the final years of Larry Hunter we have had just 3 losing season in the last 15 years. 98,03, @ 04. We dipped as a result of the coaching change that impacted recruiting, but once O'Shea got a roster that was all his. He reached the NCAA tournament posting a 20 win season. I agree that Ohio hasn't played its best basketball year to date; however O'Shea's teams peak in February and March and that is exactly the kind of team that Ohio has. Look at the stats and you can see that Ohio is gonna expload soon. Mychal Green has had one 23 point game and no one else has hit 20. 7 different Ohio players have scored 13 points or more in a game and Tillman's numbers per minute our better than Williams. They have a different guy do it every nite. Fears had a 33 point game last year, Williams a 29 point game, Troutman 26, Green 26 and Halbert 20. We haven't seen these guys go off yet and they are 9-2 because the defense has been great despite some rebounding issues. Only two teams have scored more than 63 on Ohio.
