Sound off. Why are we not 9-1 instead of 6-4 right now? Please vote and then share your top two reasons in your post.
What? Why can't I vote for organized religion?

You cannot vote for organized religion because you must vote for Sigma Nu Fraternity. Now vote, before Chuck Norris crushes your skull with a round-house kick! 01-lauramac2
Where's all of the above?

lmfao I would honestly vote for that if it was a choice.

We lost last night because Bob Brigham and Joe Novak we at the game. Everyone knows that neither one has ever won anything in the MAC. I say, pay them to stay away.

Remember, Joe was on the Coaching staff when we went big time in the 1980's.

Just a smetko.. although it could be the same thing.

To be in the game and in the lead for the majority of the game means the recruiting and talent is not the problem. Coaching makes the decisions that lead to a team losing the lead like this over and over. Its the same players in the first half as it is the second, its not like they get worse. It's these awful decisions that have been discussed over and over in the other thread that are the cause of the NIU losses.
A combination of our coaches putting handcuffs on the offense when we build a lead for reason I don't understand, and our players choking late. But mainly, the coaching.
Man if we had one guy that defenses had to focus on that would help everyone else sooooo much. Like a Garret Wolfe. Ohh man. Then we would see people wear bball jerseys to the game because we had recognition and people would bring signs that said GO "SUPERSTAR" instead of go NIU and people would go "hunny I want to go see "superstar" play tonight instead of "hunny who is that one guy who is tall and shoots the basketball" and we would only lose to Missouri State by 25. Ohhh man that would be sweet!!!!!!!!!!!! ;-)
It's not for lack of officiating. 05-stirthepot
I just think you have to give Judson alot of credit from what he has been able to do. Who would have thought we could win @ Savage Hall, beat Depaul and K-state all in the same year. And the year is only not even half over yet! Its a great time to be a Huskie basketball fan, now the key is to just keep this up!

BEAT THE BULLS! Talk about a HUGE game.

After 5 years you should expect to beat DePaul (not a very good team despite beting Wake), KSU (cupcake schedule), and UT on the road ( even bad MAC teams win on the road once in a while) not be surprised by it. UB is going to show this team as a pretender on Sat afternoon. THen the Huskies will be 1-3 in the conference and 0-3 at home. This is too deep of a hole for them to get out of with a team without much talent.

It's all about the talent. And in the case of NIU, it simply isn't there in sufficient quantity. Coach Judson is a nice guy ala Coach Novak, but a regime change is in order. Basketball is very nearly irrelevant in DeKalb. Come the end of the season it is time for Jim Phillips to work a little of his magic with this program by bringing in his hand-picked guy. Regardless how the rest of this season shakes out, my belief is Phillips will pull the plug on Coach Judson. I suspect Phillips is feeling heat to do something from factions of the administration, if for no other reason then there are habitually 8,000 to 9,000 empty seats at the Convo for games. It would be interesting to begin speculation on who the next head coach could be. As in the case with our football program, I am all for getting the sexiest candidate available even if that guy won't stay in DeKalb very long. I'd much rather achieve something meaningful than to obsess about the value of coaching tenure while the program stays locked in quagmire.

No, he isn't. The best thing to to with Mikey is to completely ignore him. He is like a broken record because he has a bit of mental retardation. Because of that, we should back off and just ignore him.

Just to play a little devils advocate here. You suggest we give him credit for beating a few teams that we thought we couldn't beat, but what does that say about where our expectations are at then? That after 5 years, we can't expect to beat Toledo on the road once in a while? That we can't suprise a BCS conference school?

Don't get me wrong, I think those were three very good wins and I'm happy about them. They should be wins to grow on, and it's not too late. However, I think your post reveals that this team isn't as good as they should be and that we don't expect much from them.

As for who expected to beat them, I'd say you. After all you have us beating the national champions runner up from last season.
I think any time the coach takes two time outs in the last couple of minutes, and both times the team looks lost on the inbound and has no play to get an open shot is just awful. First threw it in to a guy who is double teamed and then the next time Pancrantz takes an off balance jumper to get a shot off before the shot clock expires. That is just terrible coaching, simple as that.. and thats not even including the inbound with 4.6 seconds when Hughes looked like he had never practiced playing against the press. I had tried not to join the fire Judson bandwagon, but after some of these last few games, even the victories, I just feel he can't get the job done.
Where's "Judson's an idiot"

Huskie Basketball Attendance

11/26 vs. Aurora -- 2,220
11/28 vs. DePaul -- 2,563
12/13 vs. Wright State -- 1,019
12/20 vs. Kansas State -- 5,389
1/3 vs. Miami -- 2,008

I was not at the K-State game, but will assume that a good bit of that 5,389 total was K-State alums and fans. Outside of the K-State game, the rest of these totals mirror the experience of last year. Men's basketball has virtually become irrelevant in DeKalb. These statistics should gnaw at members of the NIU Administration and Jim Phillips. While I don't have financial detail, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that NIU is surely losing money with its men's basketball program. Ticket prices are dirt cheap and the Convo is typically at 1/5 or less of capacity.

Most of the people at the K-State game had $1.00 tickets as part of the "Cram the Convo" promotion.
