What a terrible night in the MAC.
EMU loses to a team with ZERO victories
Ohio folds like a deck a cards
NIU loses to a barely 1-A team
W. Michigan gets drilled
At-large hopes dashed again

The conference flopped. Only Buffalo kept us from getting an 0-fer. And even that was a close one.
Ugh.
Ugh.

That barely 1A team only lost to Minnesota by 13 points. Not saying Minnesota is much but I feel they(ND State) are an average b-ball team who played up to our level. However, I don't think our level was very high at any point during the tournament. I hope we never go to another of these dam tournaments. We never play well in them. Oh btw, ND State killed EMU. ;-) They play Kansas State in the next week. The thing that frustrates me is that we blew any chance of an at-large if we don't win the MAC. At this point, Ohio or Miami look like the best shots.

OOC Records can be misleading. Miami is 4-5 and UB 10-1. Take a look at quality road wins and bad losses and its hard to say who is the superior. Miami has played good teams well despite some losses and Ohio played at game on national tv that had lots of people seeing Ohio play like an NCAA tournament team that many had hoped to see. They almost pulled one of the greatest upsets in MAC history. NIU is a typical MAC team. They can beat anybody one nite and then lose to anybody the next. Go figure that Va Tech almost beat #1 Duke on the road, but lost at home to Bowling Green. Its that kind of weird results that make single game comparisons hard in hoops. Every team has great nites and off nites. After 27 games and three in Cleveland we shall see where we stand.

If football is any indication of how are athletic programs are going to do, it will take Jud 10+ years just to get NIU to NIT status. Sorry but our basketball program stinks. Of course that's no new news to NIU fans.

Jud's got a hell of a lot better facilities to work and recruit with than our football program does.

And yet he has had 5 + years and continues to struggle. This clown should have been canned last year. NIU needs a real coach to lead us to the post season!
