As much as I love Novak, I hope it isn't true. I don't know if he has the resume yet to go Big Ten.

Novak will retire at NIU in a few years, he has made that very clear. If I was UT I would worry more about Amstutz then Novak.

I wasn't trying to sound harsh. I just wanted to squash that rumor. He has made it clear to NIU and other universities that he will retire at NIU. We just don't know when, some say as early as 2007, some say later. Personally I hope he stays as long as possible.

Well, if his success there would be anything like it is at NIU, Michigan fans better be willing to wait 10 or so years before Michigan wins the Big tenleven.

Michigan is a national program, with Alums scattered in every major metro area. As a former student, I know that all schools have this, but Michigan students come from all over the country, particularly the east.

They will do a national search and hire a BIG name, or they will hire one of their own.

Why couldn't they? There's a lot more pressure involved at Michigan, but the football is not that different - Michigan has a lot more money in its budget, better facilities and better recruiting.

Joe Novak's recent NIU teams would destroy those D1-AA NC Youngstown State teams if given the opportunity. Also, if Terry Hoeppner, Randy Walker, and especially Nick Saban could go Big Ten, I think Joe Novak could. I don't think they play differently up there.

Exactly. Quite frankly, as a MAC fan, I'm insulted by the insinuation that our best coaches couldn't be successful in the Big Ten, especially at the ones with the biggest budgets, best fan support, best facilities and best tradition.

Novak has a better chance of going to Michigan then Amstutz does. I doubt that an old school university like Michigan is going to want Amstutz gimmic offense. Also I think that they would want a coach who can beat BCS teams.
