Nice article in today's Record Courier about Omni. It cleared up the "rules violation" that had him miss most of the season last year. The coach violated an NCAA rule with some housing arrangements-doesn't indicate any players were responsible.
Surprised to learn that this is the first organized basketball he's played in 11 months. Wait until he warms up!
Anyone else think Mr. Smith might be the sleeper of the year?

ps i'd like to see the flashes have another strong offensive performance thurs! i want to see increased playing time for ike knight! - 20 minutes per game from here on out!!

I like what i see out Omni so far. I know what coach likes about him too, he can defend and shoot the three.
I watched him closely in the YSU game, He came in the second half and was guarding #34 who lit us up in the first half. #34 was barely able to get to the ball with Omni on him and when he did get a shot off it was with a hand in his face. That kind of D on quick athletic Guards that can shoot will be important facing OU this year.... He and Mincy are going to see alot of playing time when we need to slow a team down.
I think most of us are pleasantly surprised at how effective the bench has been--and a bit disappointed in a couple of our veterans who have underperformed so far.
Probably an overstatement but he reminds me a little bit of Demetric Shaw. Maybe it just that he is a lefty but i really like his intensity.
After tonight's game at SIU, Omni has made a strong case to start at the two guard position. Gates II better start to show up or he's gonna be sitting.
There seem to be at least a couple starters that should start showing up.
