There has been lots of discussion about the disappointing showing of the MAC this year. Are we in for more of the same next year?

I don't think so. This season saw a large number of Freshman, RS Freshmen, Soph and Jr. players in leading roles on their teams. CMU, WMU, EMU, for sure had young teams on the field. Throw in some key injuries to Jacobs, Horvath, etc., and there is a definite drop off in the quality of the teams.

Next year these teams and players will all have some experience and I fully expect another 4-5 teams in the Bowls. The MAC will be back.
From a national prespective, the MAC did let us down in the OOC games. However, if Toledo and Akron win their respective bowls, it should make it an easier transition into next season.

Next year, 4-5 MAC teams in bowls? Doubtful, but possible if what occured in 2004 repeats again. I hope the MAC repeats 2003 in 2006!
I expect the MAC to be even stronger in 2006,from top to bottom.
A number of MAC schools made the move out of the cellar bottom-kudos.Some very good underclassmen in the Conference.2006 will be a very interesting year in the MAC

I think one year out of the cellar does not mean a thing. Winning must be sustained over a period of time and I think next year you will see Toledo, Bowling Green, NIU, Miami (OH) back on top.
You don't think Akron can repeat as MAC champs just like they have done this year? We have our entire O-line back, 4 of our top 6 receivers back, 2 of our top 3 running backs returning our D-line should be even better losing Kiki but gaining nate robinson, losing rohr in the middle at LB, but everyone else back, and our entire secondary back plus chevin pace who has been out since mid season with a leg injury..... I believe you will see Akron in the top of MAC for years to come.

On a side note, Akron will bring more fans than anyone has ever brought from the MAC to the MCB, just watch! 04-rock
I think the MAC is slowly getting stronger from top to bottom. The top (Toledo, Miami) are consistantly good. The Middle has gotten better over the past 5+ years (BG, WMU, CMU, Akron, NIU) and the bottom is hopefully coming (EMU, Ball State, Kent).

Now we have to do something with Buffalo and Temple.

As for next year I can see getting 3 Bowls. What is up with the Bowl game in Canada?

I talked to the MCB reps in Toledo this year, and all signs are that the game will get done for next year. They are the same people that are putting together the Toronto Bowl.
